As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

After consulting with Mayor Bloombert of NYC, Rep. King introduced legislation to make it illegal to carry within 1000 feet of public officials. Bet the nut jobs who are out to shoot a public official will be dissuaded by this fine piece of legislation. Rep. King is a REBUBLICAN!

I thought they did that right after the Gifford-shooting. I know they talked about it...maybe that is all it was at the time.

This is old news. Look at the date on the article, Jan 11, 2011. It never flew.

Unless the onus is on the "public officials" -- how is that defined, anyway -- to announce their presence continually everywhere they go with audio and visual stimuli, how can we common ordinary citizens keep from running afoul of this fine piece of legislation?

Yes, dead issue (for the moment anyway).

As far as King being a Republican -- he is a New York Republican, just like Bloomberg used to be, which means he is an only slightly less leftish democrat at heart. He is one of the seven republicans that voted against HR 822, the National Reciprocity bill. Out of the seven, five were from NY or CA.

No he is not. He is a Democrat in Republican clothing. The Republican party should throw him out. And McCain and several others. I really despise RINO's.
