In case anyone should actually believe your drivel, everyone here in the USA has access to health care right now. Very few are refused care if they need it.BillT wrote:To coin and old phrase...."America, love it or leave it". Today, as always, I am a proud American. In my humble opinion, there is no better place that shows democracy at work better than my country.
Just out of curiosity, is there anyone on this forum that wants health insurance but cannot get it at a price they can afford? Anyone have a chronic and severe health condition for which they are willing to forgo health care with potentially fatal consequences or worse yet your own child in that situation? I see a lot of crying and complaining, but alternative solutions to a very real problem facing millions of Americans is conspicuously absent from these post as well as the Republican leadership. If Republicans plan to run on a platform of repealing the Affordable Healthcare Act, then they better come up with an alternative solution to the problem. Otherwise the majority of Americans will vote to keep them out of office. For the record, I work for a small business. I pay dearly for my health insurance. I feel very fortunate in life and would be willing to contribute a little more of my disposable income for the benefit of those less fortunate to help solve this humanitarian issue. I'm guessing I'm in a very small minority in this forum, but not in the USA.
More will be refused care under Obamacare because health care will be rationed. Only the young and beautiful will receive the care. The old and wrinkled will be refused care as will the maimed and handicapped. More of the innocent little babies will be aborted.
We all already pay for those who do not have insurance in our current system. Your expensive health care does. We pay for it every time we see a doctor or go to the hospital.
Obamacare just puts the government spin on it by adding another bureacracy to the mix.

Re: obamacare upheld
I couldn't agree more. It is a sad thing that healthcare is so expensive. My bleeding heart feels for them, but that doesn't give the government the right to intrude on me for those less fortunate. Does this sound elitist? Maybe so, but I'm guaranteed that under the constitution.BillT wrote:To coin and old phrase...."America, love it or leave it". Today, as always, I am a proud American. I have also traveled extensively, and although this country definitely represents democracy better than any other country, we are coming very close to being 2nd best.
Other people's health is NOT MY responsibility. I resent the fact that the Govt just made it my responsibility. Want to know what the REAL problem facing millions of Americans is? An oppressive government that has overstepped it's boundaries and is intruding on our liberty to live life as we see fit.

There are those amongst us whose health is so poor that they, until recently, did not qualify for any kind of health insurance, at any price. I know this to be true because for a long time, one of my children who inherited a bad set of genes from his birth parents, could not find any company to cover him, at any price. Yes, his medical problems are quite expensive. He lucked into a job offering a group policy that accepted preexisting conditions. Not everyone is so lucky. As you critique the health care system, keep in mind that it could be any one of you with similar issues and thank G-d that it isn't you.

Understood, and although I will gladly offer my prayers, I will not gladly offer my freedom to be trampled over.
We keep going back to this story, and only because it is about the only goodthing to come out of the healthcare bill. Those that are suffering and are unable to purchase health insurance are the only ones who benefit. Everyone else suffers. I have my own bills, my own health insurance, and my own education to pay for.. I don't exactly have a spare change drawer to draw tax penalties from.
I'm sorry if I sound tacky, but there really is not an easy way to say that.

There are solutions to hard situations like this. We as a people should find those soutions. However this law will likely not help him in the end. Rationing of care is in this bill, it will be people like him that will be affected most. So is law will deprive me and mine of freedom of choice and will likely not give your son the help he needs.

Re: obamacare upheld
This decision leaves me stunned. I am without words to describe my disgust at SCOTUS (and the Con-gress critters who inflicted this bill on we the people).
Well, it was a good Republic while it lasted.
Heard one commentator say "This has now become the Dred Scott Court." Guess so. It will make slaves of us all.
