A few thoughts

I'm glad this thread has taken off. We need to exercise our 1st amendment rights just like the left does. We as a group tend to be quiet, go about or business, non radical, tax paying and responsible individuals. But now is the time to stand up and be heard loud and clear.

On the topic of the left, they and the gun grabbers and their ilk will be there as well. It is Austin after all. Rules of engagement are to not engage or argue or incite any conflict as that is what they want and will play into their hands. Let them do their thing. Take the high ground as we will out number them greatly.

Signs - keep it simple and easily readable by a camera. Yes the press will be there. Some very good suggestions earlier in the thread. I'm going with "PRO 2A - it's my right!"

Looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it. If you can't make it you'll at least be there in spirit that day.

Keep up the fight and the pressure on state and federal legislators. You put them there, you can remove them.

Has anyone been able to find out if there will be any official organized program of speakers etc. or will this be just a bunch of us standing up holding signs? I'll be there anyway but I want to know what to expect. I think its critical to the success of these events that there is some sort of official event organizers to direct the rally so things don't develop into a mass confusion and chaos more than any rally already has the potential to be.

I have not been able to find out much more than there is a rally on 1/19. The event is posted on many websites but only offers date and time and no other info.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

There is an organization to it but you'll need to go into Facebook to grab the information. From what I've been told there are speakers. The fb link is thru the original thread posting.

Self-defense trainers teach avoidance and de-escalation. Lawful gun owners use force reluctantly and only in the gravest extreme when their lives are in immediate danger.
Responsible armed people function as the peacekeepers of the society. Unlike police, they will never give you a speeding ticket or ask for tax money to pay for their guns.
I just looked at your FB page. The cover photo has text embedded that I've typewritten word-for-word into the quote above.

I came into this thread late, and missed not only the OP link ot the FB page but also Purplehood pointing this out (with no response).

I have no intent to provide anyone with 'protection'. I am interested in self-defense only.
I find the highlighted quote offensive and stupid.

Offensive - you're throwing LEOs under the bus
Stupid - you sound like you think you're a better "peacekeeper" than a trained LEO ... this is what SCARES the fence-sitters, that we're all just a bunch of vigilantes and cop wannabes (like George Zimmerman, remember him?)

Seriously, in all due respect, I'd like an explanation ... I'm seriously considering not attending based on this text, which reads like a "mission statement"

Well for starters, it's not my Facebook account. I don't even have one therefore its not my statements an no response from me needed. However, since tou posted this,I highly suggest that before you speak or type you look for my avatar or name anywhere on the fb page. You made an poor assumption.

Secondly, you're a big boy and can make up your own mind. I suggest you get on Facebook and ask the page owner.

And no disrespect intended.. I'll call bull on you. The minute you used the word "stupid" directed at me you lost the respect battle and my respect.

Are you sure about that? Pretty sure you can carry outside but going through the metal detectors?? Not sure about that. Also, will there be any legislators there on a Saturday? A face-to-face meeting with your House Rep/Senate Rep is always better than an e-mail.
Yes. You can carry inside the Capitol. I did just a few weeks ago. They have a secondary line next to the metal detectors. They swipe your CHL and waive you through. Just that easy. Thread:http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=60552

A friend and myself watched a couple yelling at each other then the fools
started throwing each others belongings in a dumpster then they ran
off in difrerent directions. As soon as they were gone my friend and I
climbed into the dumpster and salvaged their stuff we made out real well on their fight.

We can't afford to fight among ourselves. This will play into the anti gun crowd's hands
They will get their agenda thru while we fight among ourselves.
We need to stick together and be on the same team or we are doomed

I have an idea to help identify forum members to each other. For those who are creating signs, some where in the sign write "TexasCHLForum.com" . That will help us find other forum members and at the same time give some free publicity to the forum which could result in more CHL'ers joining the forum. And if it gets on TV, that's just icing on the cake.

Piratesailor, I did NOT call you stupid. I callee the text stupid - and IT is.

Apologies for incorrectly assuming this was your FB page and organization. This was your first post (or one of your first), right? I guess that's where I got the idea.

I stand by the rest of my comments. But have no ill will toward you and will take this up with the FB page directly.

I won't be attending until I get a satisfactory answer (and will post here what I find out). I don't like infighting anymore than anyone else, but I won't associate myself with any group that takes unprovoked pot shots at law enforcement.
