Coffee and cake for me. Latte and donut for the wife. I paid all and tipped with two dollar bills.
Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

Two "skinny mochas" and two breakfast wraps later, we are back from the Lewisville Starbucks. Even they had taken in other $2 bills before we got there. It is a statement that a small town like that in Texas would be getting support.

I wonder whether there were be any news coverage tonight or this week, one way or the other. Reading the many pro-gun blogs, it doesn't appear that the boycott is going to be very effective. There are some in Virginia OCing this morning, one of the big reasons for the boycott in the first place.

Just asked for "tallest you got" brewed coffee - at 8:45 am - No unusual rush of customers, nor anti's, nor media.

Got mine this morning. No two dollar bills, though.

I missed my stop this morning but I'll be stopping at least twice today to show my support!

Something satisfying about walking into a store and asking for a double-tap...err...shot for the `ole noggin.

I normally brew my own coffee (I roast my own beans at home), but went this morning & got a tall Pike's Place. I paid with a $2 bill and also tipped with one (which was more than my order). Lady behind the counter commented on the $2 when I paid, so I explained the reason for it. She just had a glazed expression & said "Oh, ok..."

I gave my wife a couple of $2 bills for her to use when she got out as well. She went through their drive through and had a similar experience. I'm not sure how aware the people behind the counter are of all of this, but hopefully it will filter up...

I e-mailed Starbucks this morning and I got a reply within 2 hr's that think is worthy of posting here...I can get behind that outlook and legal observance.

"Thank you for contacting Starbucks.

Thank you for your feedback regarding Starbucks' policy on open carry laws. I am truly happy to hear that you support and appreciate our gun policy!

At Starbucks, we deeply respect the views of our customers and recognize that there is significant and genuine passion surrounding the issue of open carry weapons laws. We comply with local laws and statutes in the communities we serve. Our long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged and we abide by the laws that permit open carry in 43 U.S. states. Where these laws don't exist, openly carrying weapons in our stores is prohibited.

As the public debate around this issue continues, we encourage customers and advocacy groups from both sides to share their input with their public officials. We are extremely sensitive to the issue of gun violence in our society and believe that supporting local laws is the right way for us to ensure a safe environment for both partners and customers.

Thanks again for your support and for stopping by your local store this Valentines day, have a beautiful day!

Thanks again for writing us. If you ever have any questions or concerns in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Sincerely,

That the "gift" came from a company who supports our constitutional right to bare arms is a huge helping of icing on the cake.
