John Hancock made certain that the King would know him.

He was already known. There was already a reward for his capture before he signed.bnc wrote:John Hancock made certain that the King would know him.
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

As others have mentioned the pedulam has been swing our way, and is still increasing momentum.TXlaw1 wrote:As I've been talking with folk about getting a Concealed Handgun License, I'm being asked questions like this --
If I have a CHL, the Feds will know I have a gun and come first to my house to confiscate it and put me in jail.
If I don't have a CHL, I'll not be their target. What should I do?
So how are you answering such questions? I want some good responses to convince my friends of the benefits of being licensed and carrying their guns concealed away from their homes to protect themselves and their loved ones and others.
Thanks for your help.
Not only has the supreme court weighed in twice in the last couple of years to reaffirm that we peoples have the right to own and bear arms. The legislature allowed the assault weapon ban to expire, and passed laws restricting gun confiscations during a state of emergency.
Our having a licence is not in away proof that we guns .. If our guns did ever become illegal, the feds have no right to demand to come looking for them. If or constitution becomes suspended and we lose the right to bear arms and the rights against unreasonable search and seizure I don't believe most of us will have many guns at home, but rather on the fields of combat ... Our government would have ceased to exist as the republic as we have known it.

Agree. Our having a licence is not in anyway proof that we guns ...
I hear some folks have accidentally lost their firearms in boating accidents...
Agree again. If our guns did ever become illegal, the feds have no right to demand to come looking for them. If our constitution becomes suspended and we lose the right to bear arms and the rights against unreasonable search and seizure I don't believe most of us will have many guns at home, but rather on the fields of combat ... If the "guvmint" tried some crap like that, they wouldn't HAVE to go looking for citizens with firearms as the citizens with firearms would go looking for THEM.
88 day wait for the state to approve my constitutional right to bear arms...

I would have sold all mine to Sheila Jackson Lee, 2 days before it became illegal.
All they have to do is ask me. I'll tell em

You realize that these are not the OP's questions, but questions other people have asked him.Bart wrote:Maybe we're all better off if somebody like that doesn't get a CHL.TXlaw1 wrote:As I've been talking with folk about getting a Concealed Handgun License, I'm being asked questions like this --

If someone doesn't want to get a Concealed Handgun License because they're afraid the government will know they might have a gun, that's their choice. Don't argue with them. It's a waste of time.

Or ammo on a credit/debit card or check, anywhere that uses detailed receipts that would include identifying information, if they want to know badly enough. You think WalMart wouldn't turn over the sales database? A few searches by caliber, and they can even get a pretty good idea of what you have.G.A. Being licensed to carry a firearm doesn't mean you own a gun anymore than being licensed to drive guarantees you own a vehicle. It might imply it, but it certainly doesn't prove it.

Hence the ammo checking; buying ammunition on a regular basis is a pretty good indicator of gun ownership.fickman wrote:Being licensed to carry a firearm doesn't mean you own a gun anymore than being licensed to drive guarantees you own a vehicle. So if I buy mass quantities of different calibers on an infrequent schedule I will be ok right? Speaking of which my supply of .45 is getting low, I need to restock soon.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

I guess it would depend on how far back they go, and who you got it from; they could find a lot with WalMart's records, without ever having to deal with local FFLs, at least some of whom might risk an "accident" with the bound book and pile of 4473s if they thought the government was preparing for a mass confiscation. Some of the online ammo dealers could be just as uncooperative, but their credit card processors would have a lot of names, and probably less inclination to argue with the Feds.G.A.
