His full Name is: Willard Mitt Romney

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

"The downside would have been horrible for him"... Bill Clinton ad "supporting" Obama.
And a rebuke from the mother of a fallen SEAL. :patriot:

I look forward to reading between the lines of Clintons speech Wednesday(?) night. Media is reporting that he's speaking on condition that the campaign does not get a chance to review or alter his speech before it's delivered.

Interesting times, indeed.

P.S.: Stop the condescending statements.
Good advice. Romney's supporters would have won over a lot more conservatives if they followed this strategy.

I'm not condescending, I'm telling the truth. Condescension would be if I tried to sugar coat it because I didn't think you were adult enough to handle it. Au contraire.....I credit you with being adult enough to handle it. I know that you may not like it, but we're all grownups here, and how you handle it is up to you.

One of my favorite political quotes came from "Give 'em Heck" Harry Truman. He said, "I never gave anybody heck. I just told them the truth and they thought it was heck."

(Boy, I wish the board censors would let the other word "heck" represents through.....so much is lost in translation. Seems like if the word is good enough for the Bible..... I'm just sayin'.....)

U.S. Prepares Economic Aid to Bolster Democracy in Egypt
By STEVEN LEE MYERS
Published: September 3, 2012
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/04/world ... ml?_r=1&hp
WASHINGTON — Nearly 16 months after first pledging to help Egypt’s failing economy, the Obama administration is nearing an agreement with the country’s new government to relieve $1 billion of its debt as part of an American and international assistance package intended to bolster its transition to democracy, administration officials said.
So basically, Obama is going to borrow money from China, increasing our debt, so he can give money to Egyptians.

And we should reelect this guy why?

From what I gather, he's supposed to get a second term because its all George Bush's fault, everyone who doesn't love him is a racist, Republicans are meanies who want women to die, "the rich" aren't paying their "fair share", HE got Bin Laden, he'll end global warming and create free energy, make all the nations of the world hold hands and sing songs together, and oh, yeah, its all George Bush's fault...I'm sure I missed a few but I hit the high points anyway.

Romney supporters are conservatives and the only fellow conservatives I know who are not going to vote for him are few in number. I don't consider Ron Paul supporters conservatives; they tend to be Libertarians who cannot be classified as conservatives or liberals because the Libertarian Party Platform is both ultraconservative and ultraliberal, depending upon the issue.

Fox wrote:If you want to understand why President Obama has run such a scorchingly negative campaign, consider this: In a new poll conducted for The Hill, only 40 percent of likely voters said they felt Obama deserves a second term. Fifty-two percent said he did not.

Republicans complain about the tone and tenor of Obama's months of character attacks on GOP nominee Mitt Romney, but the Hill poll shows us exactly what Obama's internal polling has likely been telling him for months. There is no chance of the incumbent winning if the election is about him. So it needs to be about somebody else.
TheHill wrote:The Hill’s polling shows skepticism about the president is entrenched among coveted centrist voters who are key to the election outcome.

Fifty-two percent of centrists said Obama does not deserve reelection based on his job performance, 56 percent are unsatisfied with his handling of the economy and 53 percent feel the country is worse off.
...........................
Among “other” voters — those who said they were neither Democrats nor Republicans — 61 percent say Obama does not deserve reelection.

The Obama campaign’s challenges extend to voters of all ages.

Among those aged 18-39 — a voting bloc that helped push Obama to victory in 2008 — 51 percent said the president does not deserve reelection, while 40 percent said he does.

Anti-Obama sentiment is strongest among seniors, the poll found. Sixty-five percent of voters aged 65 and over said Obama shouldn’t get a second term, while 53 percent of voters 40-64 years old feel the same.

Obama is also facing stiff headwinds on the economy among lower-middle-class and middle-class voters.

Among voters earning $40,000 to $60,000 a year, 67 percent said they were not satisfied with the president’s handling of the economy and 62 percent said the country is in worse condition now than in 2008.

Similarly, 58 percent of people earning between $20,000 and $40,000 a year said the country is worse off now, and 66 percent are unhappy with his handling of the economy.

Exactly. Gary Johnson, Libertarian candidate for President, said he thinks he can "come at Romney from the right and at Obama from the left".

I suppose it depends whether you think a conservative is someone who supports small goverment in compliance with the constitution or if you think a conservative is a person of faith who supports big government to impose his beliefs on others through blue laws, punitive taxation on "sin" and so on.

I disagree because of a caveat: this is not true in a winner-take-all electoral college state (every state except Maine and Nebraska) that will be won convincingly by either side.

I wasn't advocating voting for Johnson. . . I was just agreeing that - in their own words - the Libertarians are simultaneously more conservative than Republicans and more liberal than Democrats.

Still, if you live in Oklahoma, California, Alaska, probably Texas. . .you can vote for whomever you want without it being "a vote for Obama".

In Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Virgina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Indiana, New Hampshire, and several other states, this is decidedly NOT the case. In up-for-grabs states and proportional states (Maine and Nebraska), a vote for anybody but Romney IS a vote for Obama.

Similarly, I love to remind my liberal acquaintances in Texas that they contributed exactly nothing to Obama's win in November, 2008. They didn't play a role at all as far as voting goes. Their voices were not heard. In fact, the representation of their vote cast ballots for the Republican in the race. Sure it's sour grapes, but they taste sweet to me.
