Going or not though, I do have a concern about carrying at an event like that. I know we can carry, but what is the risk of antis who start randomly accusing the CHLers in the group of "brandishing" their weapons? If I were an evil anti and I saw a pro-gun group protesting, one of the things I would do is start hollering that some of them were intentionally exposing their concealed weapons to get them arrested and hauled off to jail.
Becareful and be aware of the anti-gunners who will show up to disrupt the rally. Don't let them get the better of us. We must stay focused on our message and clearly communicate our disapproval of what is happening and speak intelligently. We must be prepared to defend our position verbally and quickly. We must prepare our talking points and brush up on our historical precedents against gun control, ie fail policies and government take over, UK, Australia, USSR, China, NAZI Germany, Venezuela etc.

It would serve us well to comprehensively get all our points across clearly, concisely, and intelligently.

The media will key in on what they think fits the stereotype, any camoflauge wearing, scraggly bearded, pontailed guy getting emotional and rambling incoherently coming off as a gun nut crazy on the fringe of society. What we must come off as we are clean cut main stream society, we are the majority. We are law abiding, hard working, regular folks.

It doesn't matter to the other side but lets not give them anything to use against us to portray us the way they want to.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

No doubt. Hopefully, people will show up in whatever clothes they normally wear to work. Really show that gun owners come from all walks of life.

One very important thing.......can someone post the KNIFE LAWS in Austin? I would hate to see the media focus on how we want to save our guns but can't even obey silly knife laws and go to jail.

Thanks.

Are you sure about that? Pretty sure you can carry outside but going through the metal detectors?? Not sure about that. Also, will there be any legislators there on a Saturday? A face-to-face meeting with your House Rep/Senate Rep is always better than an e-mail.
Yes, done it myself as have others

Just carry your pink gun that day so when they make false report to LEO that you brandished, ask them what your gun looked like, then when try say "black" - show LEO your pink gun

Haha nice, but not a bad idea to try. I don't have a pink gun but maybe I could just get some day-glow fluorescent painters tape to temporarily change the slide color.

Or we could all just simply open carry AR-15s, but It's hard to imagine open carrying at a protest without eating some dirt and getting a free taxi to the police station. Anyway a guy can dream, and in my fantasy world it would be AWESOME to show up like that.

If I come I'm leaving my AR-15 at home. I would not want to arrive and find out I'm the only one who overdressed for the occasion.

I will be there with most of my family and hopefully some co-workers. For once I am glad I live in the liberal mecca of Texas :txflag: . This saves me the road trip some of you are making.

:rules: One thing to consider for everybody going. Don't leave anything valuable in your car. Any crook with 1/2 a brain will target cars that day as it will be a target rich environment. I don't want to see anybody's pistola fall into the wrong hands.

Not being that familiar with Austin and not having access to all those social media things, how about some information on logistics around the demonstration like parking availability etc.

I posted on the other thread that I will try and make it. I would have to leave around 1:00 pm to drive back to Houston to pick up Mrs. Anygunanywhere from work.

I will do my very level best.

I am going to try and make it as well. My eleven year old needs to see how exercising our 1st amendment right helps support and protect our second amendment rights.

Been awhile since I've been to the capitol, but IIRC there is a parking garage at 12th and San Jac, 1block away.

We just had a conference call and signs were one of the topics. Pretty much anything that will positively assert unilateral support of the second amendment will be great! It is the hope that the signs will be made that show gun owners in a positive light (no Obscenities or the thing that would cast gun owners in a bad light). I'm still trying to figure out what I will be putting on mine. Anyone have any good ideas? My wife has been Brian storming with me.
