Can't we all just agree killing bin laden was god for the country. Yes it may help Obama in the next election but I think he will be helped a lot more by a weak republican field. And BTW that was the same before he killed bin laden, e just got a little more of a bounce.

As far as I'm concerned, the killing of bin Laden neither helps or hinders President Obama's re-election chances. The Paul Ryan, (R-Wisconsin), budget bill did a lot to hurt the Republicans. Ron Paul, (R-Texas) voted against it. In doing so he showed a lot of courage by not following the pack mentality.

No-go was NOT a option.
NOT going for OBL would NEVER have been forgiven, EVEN by the democrats.

There is a reasonably credible sounding story circulating on the Internet that says President Obama was only made aware of operation after it was underway. According to that account, Valerie Jarrett stonewalled earlier dates for the action and was livid with others who initiated it. I could find no credible source for the information so I'll take it no further.

I can only hope that the American voters are more than a "one trick pony." There are many major topics which affect our lives today from energy to unemployment to the gargantuan National debt. I'm counting on people voting their pocketbooks and electing a leader who will make things better, not continue to make things worse. We can thank both sides of the isle for the current pickle we are in. We need solutions, not leaders who generate more problems.

But it's funny to watch the Dems beat their chest over this and try to use it to justify waterboarding. It's always OK when it's your guy in charge.

This is based on a skewed poll from AP in which democrats are overrepresented by 17%, compared to republicans and independents.

Unless the Repubs come up with a viable candidate and a viable platform PDQ, Barack Obama will continue to be the POTUS after the November 2012 elections...and that's a fact, Jack. Am I the only one who sees this...

Bashing Obama on this forum ain't gonna' change nothing! It's up to the opposition party (GOP) to give the American voters a realistic and believable choice come election time. Otherwise, it'll be 2016 before there's another POTUS. Just out of curiosity, how old will you and your offspring be in 2016?

I don't necessarily agree. Bush 41 was at 90% with 2 years to go, and left office at 28% approval. McCain overtook Obama and led 2 weeks before the 2008 election, but fell sharply when the Washington panicked and Tarp was voted on. James Carvel had it right when he coined the phrase, "It's the economy stupid." While I may not necessarily be a fan, Romney has a chance and so does Huckabee (if he runs). In fact some in the already announced field have a good shot at it, and others not announced do as well. Regardless of a platform, if the economy is no better, unemployment above 8% and continued skyrocketing debt, I believe Obama will be toast. Republicans wont elect the next POTUS and neither will the Dems. It's always the Independents that decide elections. When all is said and done, it will all boil down to Carvel's remark, and in politics 18 months is a lifetime. Who knows what will happen between now and then. Since you asked I will be pushing 71 at election time 2012, my son will be 47 and my daughter 46.
