How many years of tax returns would make you happy?

Ask your buddy Obama for his Harvard and Columbia transcripts. Do you think for even a minute that if Mitt Romney had failed to file, or had broken tax law, that he would not be in prison already? Puh-leeze. If there were really something there, Obama could call up his buddy Tim "Oops, I didn't pay my taxes" Gietner over at Treasury and have Romney's tax records walked over to him.
There is no "there" there, and that's a red herring. Democrats can't defend Obama's record of total failure, so they smear the opposition. It's kind of sad when that's all you've got.

Hopefully that was sarcasm.... and you're not buying in to that rhetoric.
If I was to venture a guess, Romney is not releasing any more of his tax records because they would show that he's using a variety of tax shelters and other nations to shield his money, legally, from the IRS. This would be quickly demagoged and used to beat him over the head, even though his methods are legal.
Unfortunately, the facts of his tax returns would create more envy from the Left and be used against him.
Of course this is just my guess, I have no facts to back this up.

I agree with you 100% TAM, but my first reaction was "let's not answer a tough question by pointing out the same failures on the other side".... It feels to much like "them"... I am so completely sickened by BHO and his cronies. Using his tactics feels to me like two wrongs not making a right.

Oh.. and... if you've not seen this..

Hannity: Wayne Allyn Root graduated the same year as Barack Obama, and even shared the same major as the future president. But Root claims that neither he nor his classmates ever met, saw or heard of Barack Obama during the years at Columbia.
....................
Root: I was a pretty connected guy. I knew a lot of people. I knew pretty much everyone, I thought, in the Political Science Department. I never met him. I never saw him. I never heard of him. No one that I know at Columbia ever met him, ever heard of him or ever saw him. It's strange. It's mysterious. It doesn't mean he didn't go there, by the way. I'm sure he went there, but he was probably busy smoking pot and attending socialist meetings. What can I tell you?
...................
HANNITY: What do you expect to find?
ROOT: Well, listen, my hunch is, how did he get into Columbia with bad grades at Occidental, which everyone at Occidental says, the guy was not a good student. How did he get to Harvard Law School if he sealed his records because he's afraid of bad grades at Columbia? How did he get into Harvard? How did he pay for expensive schools like Occidental, like Columbia, like Harvard? All very strange stories.
And my gut instinct says, there is an easy track that gets you into an Ivy League School. And you don't have to compete like a guy like me. I was valedictorian in my high school, top one half of one percent in my SAT scores. You don't have to do that if you're a foreign exchange student. They are looking for diversity, Sean. And that's an easy way to get into an Ivy League School. It changes the whole ballgame, it levels the field. If they are looking for a guy from Indonesia, and you happened to have bad grades, but you are a good talker, and a good interviewer and you got a great, exotic story, you're in.

Harvard, Columbia, and Occidental. He is rumored to have attended Occidental on a foreign student aid scholarship which is unavailable to US citizens.

"How prone all human institutions have been to decay; how subject the best-formed and most wisely organized governments have been to lose their check and totally dissolve; how difficult it has been for mankind, in all ages and countries, to preserve their dearest rights and best privileges, impelled as it were by an irresistible fate of despotism." --James Monroe, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788

I don't know who was the first politician to publish their tax returns, but he/she was an idiot. Tax returns are not relevant to a person's qualifications for the job, they only provide fodder for more negative campaigning.

Exactly!
IF Romney were to make his public, and if they were impeccable, does anybody think that Debbie Wasserman Schultz would suddenly shout, "FINALLY!!! An honest man!!!" Hell no. She would shout "He's rich! EAT THE RICH!!!

I'm sure it seemed like an innocent enough thing to give into at the time (whenever that was), and the person had "clean" records, so they did it...but, of course, its a "you-give-an-inch-they-take-a-mile" situation.

I bet he paid more taxes than B.O.'s secretary of the treasury.

Its a little sad how everyone assumes I am an Obama supporter just because I am not a Romney supporter. It wasn't that long ago that most of you were pretty firmly anti-Romney too.
And, if Romney had released his tax records but Obama refused would you all still be saying that it wasn't important? Nope, you would probably be piling on with your partisan politics. Many of you don't care about picking a good president you care about picking a president with an R next to his name, even if the R stands for RINO.

Nope, It's not about the "R." I care about picking a president
without a D next to his name, whether that stands for DINO or Damned Fool. (Candidates with "L"s after their name are irrelevant in this election, except as spoilers.) And you'll find no inconsistency with me. Research my posts. I have
ALWAYS maintained that he's not the ideal candidate. But he's still better than Obama. And you haven't addressed the red herring. He has broken no laws. If he had, we'd know about it and he'd be arrested. He's TOO high profile to skate. Like I said, you can take it to the bank that Obama could easily have Geitner walk Romney's tax records across the street to the Oval Office..........if a crime had been committed. If there is no crime, that would be against the law. Against the law for Obama as much as it is for you.
Unless he's a criminal, it's none of your business what's on his returns. None at all. None of my business either. You just want to try and find some dirt on the guy,
and you want him to give you the shovel to dig it up with. How does that make you any different from a democrat? Still beat your wife? I don't seriously think you do, but it's the same kind of question as "show us your taxes to prove you're not a criminal," with the nasty same spirit behind it.
Let me see
your tax returns.
