From the president....."...meaningful action regardless of politics....". In other words release the dogs and push our gun control agenda hard. You can bet this unspeakable tradgedy will be used hard against the second amendment. Buckle up.

Tipical liberal response. Blame anything but the real cause. No personal responsibility.

I work night shift and just woke up a little while ago. The first thing I thought when I saw the story was my pure anger and disgust that someone could shoot a bunch of little kids. And the second thing was how long until the Democrat Party uses this for gun control...the whole thing is rotten, vile and despicable.

You know what Oldgringo, normally I would be irritated with you. But I've got a bad feeling you might be right...

I hate to think this much less post it, but from the vibe I'm getting reading FB posts from folks who typically don't care about the gun issue either way (or are even slighly pro gun) this could be THE ONE - the tragedy that pushes the gun control agenda back to the forefront. It happened in England. It happened in Australia. It happened to a degree here (1994 AWB following 1991 Killeen mass murder, amongst others).
I hope I'm wrong and just misreading the tea leaves as they blow hard from the emotional wind of this tragedy. But this one seems different somehow in the way people are reacting - like they're finally fed up. The child victims are likely what does it to people (in some ways, can't say I blame them - nothing more horrific than a dead child).
Yesterday, renewal of AWB seemed unlikely. Today, I dunno. The way people are reacting emotionally to this - and the anti-gun lobby's certainty to "never let a tragedy go to waste", I'm even wondering if an AWB with no grandfathering (turn 'em all in or become a Federal criminal) might be possible with regards to so-called "assault weapons".
Again, I hope I'm wrong and just over-reacting to the reaction I've read so far. But this one seems different.
What reaction are y'all seeing from those who're not the usual anti-gun suspects?

For twenty years, I went where they told me to go...I worked the hours they told me to work, day or night...I got on the plane to leave my family even when I was sick...I stayed at work though my insides felt like they were coming apart because the mission had to go on...I'm no hero, but I followed the rules for those twenty years...and they are going to treat ME like a felon because some sick excuse for a human being murders a bunch of little kids in Connecticut? Well, that is NOT the United States of America and TANJ! (There ain't no justice).

I haven't seen any anti-gun rhetoric from anybody... yet.
From what I hear, he did not have assault weapons. Sounds like he had two hand-guns. This could help, or hurt, difficult to say.
While we wait for the fallout, I will continue to pray for everyone in that town. They surely are all affected by this horrific and disgusting act.

I'm seeing a lot of posts from people who are outraged that children were mowed down and I do think that this could be what sets the stage for a 2nd Amendment battle and I'm not surprised nor do I blame them. I don't know if it will go anywhere but I expect the issue to stick around longer than the Aurora shooting and I expect there to be quite a hard push in the gun control direction. Its horrifying to me that those children were gunned down but I'm getting real tired of knee-jerk reactions that are so popular here in America.

It has been confirmed that he had a .223 Bushmaster AR-15 along with a Glock and a Sig.

Will Obama now just issue an executive order and how will that be recieved?
A lot of emotion around today and understandably so after such a sad and tragic event. Hopefully when investigations are completed we will have better idea about who the sick youth was and his history. It still will not stop the lefts continued drive for stricter if ineffectual gunlaws its in their DNA.

Allegedly the 223 rifle was in his vehicle .

Update: With the shooter’s body inside the school, police found two handguns. One was a Sig Sauer, the other a Glock 9mm. In his vehicle, police found a .223 caliber rifle, according to CBS News reporting.

Good thing they got to it before it caused more mayhem.

Actually, my shooting buddy and I were going target shooting today with our .22's. He's more liberal than I and as expected, registration was the first thing out of his mouth when he called this morning. We didn't go shooting.

I was not a gun owner during the AWB period. If there is a total ban, no grandfathering, what do you think that would look like? Will the feds take the records from all the gun stores and track down the evil guns? Will there be house to house searches?
I just bought an AR10 yesterday - so I have skin in the game now.
