So if I am being interviewed by one of the left anti-gun grabbers talking head and I slapped the interviewer on his face for sole journalistic purposes to help illuminate an important issue for the viewers. Do I get a free-passs"Meet the Press" issued a statement Friday that said: "We displayed the empty magazine solely for journalistic purposes to help illuminate an important issue for our viewers. We accept the District of Columbia Attorney General's admonishment, respect his decision and will have no further comment on this matter."

No more so than the double standard that exists for everything else Liberal vs. Conservative. The President grants himself lifetime body guards and, almost in the same breath, says the rest of us cannot protect ourselves with more than 10 round mags. The NY newspaper outs all of the Rockland County gun owners and then turns around and hires armed guards for themselves. Laws are for little people, in DC, I guess. Too bad it didnt help that veteran who got caught with ammo in his bag.

After slavery was abolished in 1865(13th Amendment)many southern states created Black Codes that limited property rights, the ability to enter into contracts, and had harsher penalties for former slaves and freedmen. The Republican led congress was stymied in it's attempt to enact what could be called the Civil Rights Act of 1866. Most provisions of the Act were deemed unconstitutional in debate, and really forced the Republicans to draft and begin debate on the 14th.
Southern members of congress were uniformly against the legislation and the proposed amendment. So Congress, exercising its power under Article I, section 5, clause 1 of the Constitution, to "be the Judge of the Qualifications of its own Members," expelled Southerners from Congress, declaring that their states, having "Been in a State of Rebellion Agaisnt the Union", could not elect members to Congress. It was only this expulsion that allowed the equal protection clause to be passed by congress and sent to the states for ratification. The bitterest pill was that the Southern states then had to ratify the 14th Amendment to gain re-entry into the Union.
So basically, you can't have laws that create a class of people that receive harsher treatment under them. It doesn't require that laws are equally enforced. Oh, and this only applies to the States not the Federal gov't. Federal laws that are seen to create discriminatory classes, would be addressed under the Due Process Clause of the 5th Amendment.

I possess 30 round magazines in order to promote the First Amendment purpose of informing an ongoing public debate about firearms.
