New Bipartisan Gun Control Plan in Conn.

#1

Post by gthaustex »

From the article:
With an announcement of sweeping proposals to curb gun violence, Connecticut lawmakers said they are hoping to send a message to Congress and other state legislators across the country: A bipartisan agreement on gun control is possible.
http://news.yahoo.com/conn-lawmakers-un ... 23827.html

Some of these proposals are strange, others are a rehash of ideas already suggested:

- A ban on new hi-capacity magazines
- A registration requirement for existing magazines that hold 10 or more rounds
- A statewide dangerous weapon offender registry
- Ammunition eligibility certificates
- Universal background checks for all firearms sales
- Extention of the state AWB to include more firearms with registration of those already posessed / outlawed

As stated in the article, how exactly does one register a magazine? I wonder if firearms related industries will continue to stay in the state?

It's now official: I'll never live in Connecticut.

My understanding is that in Connecticut (man hard to spell) in order to purchase a gun you must have written permission from your local sheriff or chief of police. In the case of Sandy Hook the mother complied with the law and did so for each gun she purchased. Permission was given in this small town despite the fact her son's difficulties with life were well known.

And after all these laws are passed will they then be safe?

Or will their schools still be unprotected from people who are looking for the most points?

The "ammunition eligibility certificate" puts nameless unelected bureaucrats (with no apparent accountability) in charge of who can buy ammunition and who cannot. I guess that the law abiding citizens of Connecticut are at the mercy of whoever happens to be running the government while the criminals are not.

What if this was at the Federal level and the bureaucrats were typical of those that have been appointed by the current administration ???????

Agreed, just look at the laws put in place...NONE of them would have made the slightest difference in Newtown. His mother would have followed all the laws and obtained guns/ammo just as legally as she had.

It just blows my mind.....I can't believe people actually applaud such idiocy.

Another Article on the same topic:
http://www.click2houston.com/news/Conne ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I love this part:

""No gun owner will lose their gun, no gun owner will lose their magazine, they will not lose the use of said gun or magazine, so long as they follow our rules and register," he said. "Are there tighter restrictions on their use, etc.? Absolutely. We also were able to see as part of this legislation the repeal of early release for violent criminals"
