National Association for Gun rights spamming
I had recently signed up through Rand Paul's web site for email from this group. Did not expect mail daily mail and do not have time to read it. I tried to unsubscribe and no luck, after about 5-6 times I finally called and spoke with someone and was assured this would be taken care of. Still getting mails and is making me mad, I should waste this much of my time to stop this. Now I question if this group is legit or not, or they just don't have there act together. Just beware if you sign up with them you may not be able to opt out.

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
I am just ignoring their email. I wanted to help them at one time and then spam turned me off.

Just set up a filter on your email and send anything from them directly to the Junk or Delete folder. You'll never see them.Bill wrote:I had recently signed up through Rand Paul's web site for email from this group. Did not expect mail daily mail and do not have time to read it. I use Gmail and this is what I had to do after several attempts to unsubscribe - now they just go straight to my spam folder and I never have to look at them.JJVP wrote: Just set up a filter on your email and send anything from them directly to the Junk or Delete folder. You'll never see them.

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
Dudley Brown's NAGR has some relationship with Sen. Rand Paul that involves their respective email lists. I was shocked to learn Paul had done this, especially since NAGR is nothing more than Dudley Brown's email list used to solicit funds and slander the NRA. Since Paul's dad was a master at using the Internet to raise money, I guess Rand is following in his footsteps. The Senator should choose his friends far more carefully.

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
At first I was going to join them also when I joined the NRA BUT then the emails started coming and coming and coming and they were not what I would consider "professional" more like "slam an beg". I did not however have any issue when I unsubscribe.

In all the emails I got from them, never once did they tell me what they could do for me--or even what they were doing. Every email I got was just to tell me how evil the NRA is

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
I get email, facebook posts on news wall and others from their group and other conservative groups like Tea Party, NRA, GOA, AFA and NAG. 9 times out of 10 I just see the subject post, know what it's about or going to say and pass it by.
I don't mind it really. I actually appreciate the enthusiasm. You can always mark it was spam I think if it's cluttering your mailbox

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
Speaking as someone who recently joined both the NRA and GOA, there is room for criticism of the NRA http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12 ... ry-school/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
While they are a good group, have done a lot of great things, they tend to, as one speaker put it, get lost in details and lose sight of the big picture 1) in an effort to appease others and 2) , more important, taking on a worldview of the neoconservatives: Centralization of power is the way to maintain our rights and "keep us safe". They oftem compromise gun rights on one hand while on the other hand bulldoze other areas of the Constitution in an effort to maintain gun rights
This not to say I don't like the NRA or that I regret having joined them (I joined them aware of the above said statement for years), I was glad to see big government neocon George H. Bush leave them following Wayne LaPierre's "jack booted thugs" statement 20 years ago, but their is room for debate here in some of their positions.
BUT, the goal should all be the same for all true conservative organizations whether it's the NRA, GOA, NAG, LOS, Tea Party, etc.. Defending God Given rights that are supposed to be protected in the U.S. and State Constitutions.

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
Unlike politically "conservative" groups such as the Tea Party or LoS, the NRA is a single-issue organization: Firearms. Every program they have is related to firearms (education, safety, lobbying), and nothing else. This is why you see A ratings for some democrats who otherwise don't fit the "conservative" form. They do often stray (or get dragged) into other political issues, but in its pure form the NRA should only be involved in firearms specific political issues.Doug.38PR wrote: on the other hand bulldoze other areas of the Constitution in an effort to maintain gun rights
On the issue you cite, the NRA was rather forced into the position of proposing a "solution" lest they be painted as even more complacent and cold than they already were. Their solution isn't perfect, and I prefer to not run our schools like prisons, but it was probably one of the best they could propose given the situation. The idea that it could make our kids safer without compromising on the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.
I don't agree with the NRA on every position they take, especially when it comes to some legal actions they support, but to call them a conservative group and lump them in with general political organizations like the Tea Party isn't really accurate.

Re: National Association for Gun rights spamming
Ok, so for those who feel NAGR and/or GOA is a viable alternative to the NRA would you please show me what legislation they pushed and got passed? Maybe you can show me what lawsuits they have launched and won. Maybe you can show me what they have done to promote firearms education. Perhaps you can show me what they have done to promote competitive shooting sports. Alternatively you can show me why our opposition always complains about the NRA and why they don't seem to attack NAGR or GOA.
With that said I'm done with this topic.

How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?
