Below came from the University of Texas concerning campus carry There are at two things that they got wrong
Please find their mistakes
............................................................................................................................................
Are there any places that an LTC holder cannot carry a concealed handgun?
Yes. Texas state law, including sections 46.02, 46.03, and 46.035 of the Texas Penal Code, prohibits handguns and other weapons in certain places when properly signed, including but not limited to:
On the premises of a business that derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale or service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption
On the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting or interscholastic event is taking place
On the premises of a correctional facility
On the premises of a hospital or nursing home (without proper authorization) must be posted
In an amusement park
On the premises of a church, synagogue, or other place of worship must be posted
In addition, the new policies for implementation at UT Austin (currently pending Board of Regents approval) create “gun exclusion zones” that include:
Most residential dormitories on campus, with exceptions for family members
Certain laboratories
Any location where pre-K-12 activities are held (Texas Penal Code 46.03(a)(1).
Sole occupant assigned offices (not generally open to the public) where the individual provides oral notice that the concealed carry of handguns is prohibited there.

Just because schoolchildren are present in a location does not make it the location of a school-sponsored event. I carried in the mall yesterday. Schoolchildren everywhere. Totally fine. This argument should hopefully be shot down in the next legislative session. The private offices thing is also ridiculous.

It's interesting that they specify "oral" notice for that one. Doesn't oral imply spoken and not written, or do I have that wrong. If it doesn't cover written communication, then including a note in the course syllabus or putting a sign on your office door would be insufficient.LucasMcCain wrote:Any location where pre-K-12 activities are held (Texas Penal Code 46.03(a)(1).

Oral = spoken
So they are specifically saying they will not allow the professors to put it in their syllabus or post signs. They would have to actually tell visitors to their office that they do not allow guns. Personally, I would respond by standing just outside the office door and talking to them, but then my posterior is reputedly highly intelligent.

It does say "...in certain places when properly signed, ..."Topbuilder wrote:On the premises of a church, synagogue, or other place of worship.

Re: Find the Mistakes
Pg. 50. PC §46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.
Pg. 51 Text of subsection effective on Aug. 1, 2016
(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed or carried in a shoulder or belt holster, on or about the license holder’s person:
(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;
Pg. 53 Text of subsection effective on Aug. 1, 2016
(l) Subsection (b)(2) does not apply on the premises where a collegiate sporting event is taking place if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.
Now this is the current March 2016 CHL-16. So it states there must be signage to stop concealed carry at a collegiate sporting event. Got to read the end of the page.
