House Speaker John Boehner, under pressure from conservatives, announces he will resign his post and his House seat at the end of October.

I thought he was going to croak yesterday while the Pope was speaking. Between his weeping and John Kerry looking like he just ate a bushel of persimmons, it was a strange occasion.

Confirming article: http://dailysignal.com/2015/09/25/john- ... -congress/.

Apparently, he will both step down as Speaker AND resign from Congress at the end of October.

Personally, I think that this is good news for republicans. Now they can get a standard bearer who will actually FIGHT for their platform, instead of doing a continuous cave-in before a House democrat minority, and a squishy "RINO" senate majority that lets the democrat minority there run the Senate.

The last few years have shown the most inept leadership on the republican side that I've ever seen.

Edited to add: AND..... I MOST sincerely hope that McConnell reads this headline and gets the message and either cleans up his shop or resigns as Senate majority leader.

The question is not whether the Republicrats can elect a person of character and principle to lead the majority, but rather WILL they? The Establishment corporatists in the ranks have a remarkable ability to close ranks on the issue of retaining power.

I remain cautiously optimistic. History often turns on small events that add up...

I guess 24 years of tough talk followed up by crying and capitulation was exhausting. Bye bye Johnny.
