Oh I agree.
In this case, I disagree. The article states that they were shooting while driving away. This makes returning fire quite legal. I think I would prefer to take cover and let them go, but I cannot say this for sure. I also cannot say he is wrong for not doing so.

Depends. They could have still been a threat if they had the gun pointing back toward the victim. Without additional info we don't know for sure.

I think if they are firing at you then you have the right to return it back. BUT, you had better hit someone who was actually firing the guns not just someone sitting in the car. just my opinion.

I had a kid point his bb gun at me once I warned him he was about to find out what a real bullet can do. He ran off pretty quick.

I'd like to see all the kids punished with attempted murder. However, I think the best action would have been to take cover and protect yourself,,,,,hopefully get a plate # and call it in. I'm just glad to hear the gentleman is ok

Doesn't Texas have a law that allows for everyone in a group to be charged with a crime? If they do, this is a moot point...

I think he's OK legally for returning fire, especially in this state. Morally, that's a matter of personal opinion.

Per the article, he fired a single round and struck a criminal. How exactly is that "pray and spray?". It's exactly the opposite - a dang good shot.

Yes, a "law of the parties" or specifically "Parties to Offenses" law. PC Chapter 7, if I am not mistaken.
