So far, 20 or so shot. Not sure how many, if any, dead according to Fox News. Still developing.

You can listen to police radio traffic here.

Praying. This is terribly sad.

I've already hear people say that this was not a gun free zone. I looked online briefly. Campus Carry is legal in Oregon, but according to armedcampuses.org,
As of August 21, 2013, no private or public universities, colleges, or community colleges permit weapons inside of buildings. No private universities permit weapons on campus grounds.

I use the Scanner Radio app for Android.

Part of the issue may be the number of listeners. Last I saw it was over 22,000. Sometimes that overwhelms their server.

Reuters is saying 15 dead.

But local PD are only saying 7 dead....... so the problem is that there are multiple sources reporting, with conflicting numbers. The shooter is down. ATF is on scene and FBI is on the way. Victims apparently confined to a single classroom. 13 patients transported so far, but no word about their individual statuses.

My guess is that we'll find out that in such a small community, it was a student who felt psychologically isolated for whatever reason, and acted out his rage.

Thanks for the tip. Just picked that app up, working well.

Yeah, I heard earlier the victim estimates were estimates from the scanner traffic. That usually proves very unreliable. I had a disclaimer in my previous post from Reuters but deleted it.

We'll know soon for sure how many victims and their condition.

Thanks, TAM.

I heard a mother of one of the students being interviewed, saying that her son was still trapped in a classroom and waiting for instructions. She said her son is a shooting enthusiast, and he gave a strange detail....... that the shots were almost silent, and he wondered if the shooter was using a suppressor.

Coworker just asked me about that one. If it was combined to one classroom/floor then that sound may not travel very far. I'd really doubt a suppressor was used in something like this, but who knows what's going on with this guy.

God be with the families.

Forgive me for noting the uncomfortable tones in which CNN just interviewed someone who pointed out that berserkers would know they wouldn't face armed resistance in gun free zones.

Yeah, I don't know if the trapped son was in the same building where the shooting occurred, or if he was in the science building next door, which is where some of the witness reports are coming from.
