Sample CHL Exam?
Me and my wife will be taking the CHL course soon. Is there a sample exam for the written part of the test so we can try to get an idea of what to expect?
Re: Sample CHL Exam?
If you are worried about it, there is nothing to worry about. Go in with open mind and take it all in, read up stuff on here from some of the experts and you will be better off than 80% of the people in the classes I attended.
The test is easy....
Edit: research the instructors in your area, they aren't all the same...

Re: Sample CHL Exam?
The test is not available except in the class. Any instructor that provides the test outside of class would likely have their certificate revoked. Pay attention in class and you won't have any trouble.

I passed it by attending the class and listening to the instructor and so will you and your wife. The TX CHL forum is also a great resource to obtain information about the process and even details. You also can start a topic with a question and there will be somebody with an answer.

In the event this is a troll looking for evidence that obtaining a chl is easy...
The test is incredibly difficult and requires complete and thorough knowledge of the laws of a responsible citizen and member of society. The handgun proficiency portion of the class is very informative and requires pinpoint accuracy and undivided focus in order to barely pass. All in all, I'm confident in the current classes to believe I left prepared to be a CHL.
If not troll, carry on

Re: Sample CHL Exam?
IMHO the test is almost ridiculously easy and the range qualification is not far behind. Think of it like when you got a driver's license for the first time. Passing simply means that you have met the minimum requirements to operate a motor vehicle. I believe the same applies here. Experience, education, training, and time are where additional important lessons are learned.
This will sound almost rude, but I am being honest....anyone who does not pass any of the above? Thank goodness as this an indicator that (at least at the time), they are most likely not a suitable candidate to legally carry a handgun.
I personally would support that not only the written test be more challenging, but the range requirements be raised to a higher level as well.
But of course it's just me saying.

The test was extremely easy. You have nothing to worry about.

The written test is what you learn in the class. This is to test to see if you're listening to the instructor. I got 100 on mine.
Then you will have the gun proficiency tests at 3-7-15 yards. Do the best you can at 3 and 7 because 15 is harder. When they tell you how many seconds to do it use those seconds and get your aim set.
there, nothing to it.

Psst! Here's a cheat sheet you can download. It has answers to ALL the questions.

As difficult as some want to make it, the rules of gun safety are very simple. Follow them religiously and nobody gets hurt.

Re: Sample CHL Exam?
Before I start carrying very much I'll be reviewing the prohibited places that are not required to be 30.06/7 posted. But I will look for a current summary somewhere - the laws on the internet are not necessarily up to date.
My TX CHL instructor was mighty poor, she said if a school has a generic gun-buster sign (not a 30.06) posted at the entrance to their parking lot that you cannot have a firearm in the car you are wanting to park there even if you have a CHL/LTC. None of us wanted to argue any of her mistakes since the class was painful long enough as it was.

You may have the last word.
