Chuck is asking the military to consider whether the gun manufacturer is working on "smart gun technology", plus something about its dealers, I didn't quite get, before it selects its new handgun.

Chucky doesn't care how he gets gun control as long as he gets it. He could care less if it is front door, back door, garage door, side door, through a window, falling through the roof, or even breaching through the wall. He wants it and he has no intentions of giving up on it.

For many years, I have regarded Chuck Shumer as the most dangerous man in America.

I don't see this succeeding, though, because the military currently receives a very high, and richly deserved, level of respect and admiration, as high as it has been in my memory, which goes all the way back to the Truman Administration. Shumer is a powerful man, but he is thankfully in the minority now. Hopefully he will stay there.

For a long time now, the more the Communists formerly known as Democrats have thumped the tub for more gun control, the fewer there are of them after the next election. Given the decimation of their ranks in state and local government offices in recent elections, the prospects must be regarded as slight.

All we need to do is keep an eye on this dangerous, devious man, and be ready to oppose all such nonsense.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I do not want a "smart gun," I'd love to have "smart bullets"

This is more sinister than it appears. Looking at this article
http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/23/us/new-je ... index.html

it seems as though all pistols in NJ would have to be smart guns within 30 months of the availability of that technology. It I'm understanding it correctly, that law is a chief impediment to smart guns because no maker wants to be the one to trigger the NJ law. I don't know if NY has anything similar but it wouldn't surprise me.

NJ's smart gun law is probably the reason smart guns have not been offered for sale in the US. Three dealers have announced that they were going to sell smart guns. One was in MD, one in CA, and I forget the third.

All three changed their mind after receiving thousands of phone calls and even death threats. Most from NJ.

chasfm11 is right. NJ has a law that says that as soon as the first smart gun is sold in the US, only smart guns can be sold in NJ.

So far, Armatix, a German company, is the only one making smart guns. They only manufacture a .22 handgun - which means those of us behind the iron curtain in NJ would only have a single .22 handgun available to us.

By the way, Armatix says on it's website that it's smart guns can be shut down remotely by governments when needed. That may fly in Germany but it does not fly in America.

That sounds a lot like "infringing" to me.

If the government can disable smart firearms then a hacker can. May as well say anyone can because a hacker would put the information on the internet where anyone would have the ability.
