I would think that they need to get the law straight before posting a video.
(1) Hospitals are not off limits unless posted
(2) School buildings are off limits

I have been seeing a lot of news outlets posting articles about the upcoming OC going into affect and getting stuff backwards or just plain wrong. I don't know why it bugs me so much but I just remember I know what the law says soo... I hope their misinformation doesn't cause more calls to local PD's because people see in the news that you supposedly couldn't carry somewhere and it was false.

Right after that he says, "when posted that carry in those places is prohibited".

I'll admit that his timing and delivery make it a bit unclear though.

I watched it twice and thought it was a well presented infomercial for the general public. It, was not a quiz to test the knowledge of CHL wannabee lawyers. It has been stated herein that most hospitals are posted (although mine's not) and the subject of carry on school grounds is so convoluted, I ain't gonna' go there - with or without. BTW, the comments to the presentation were interesting to say the least.

Just my 2¢ worth....ymmv

Didn't watch the video, but read the article in this morning's Killeen Daily Herald. It quotes Chief of Police as stating that a "Drop Leg Holster" does not meet the requirements for a belt holster. Only time I have personally worn one was on active duty to get my holster accessible below my body armor, BUT it WAS attached to the belt. Think there is going to be a huge learning curve on both sides and some interestting interpretations by diferent LE agencies :confused5

Further proof that all the discussions about holsters were maybe warranted after all.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

He's the first chief or authority figure I've seen say this about drop leg holsters.

I agree. Sadly I think some in LE who are against OC will exploit the law when it is not explicit or is vague to intimidate OCers from OCing.

The reports I have read of LEO attitudes and the interaction I have had with my city's PD are more encouraging to me than discouraging.

Let's see what happens in 1 day, 12 hours, 40 minutes and counting. ;-)

I'll be out before dawn in Elgin, Texas.

My only real concern at this point is that I ordered my OC holster too late and it's not in yet. I will have to go with plan B, but I will OC on Jan. 1, exposed IWB.

(I wasn't gonna get a gun just for OC and use what I already have but my ability to justify any gun purchases got the better of me at the last minute. Anyway, it was a nice my Christmas present to myself. :biggrinjester: )

It's a known fact that Chief Baldwin is not a fan of open carry, nor is he a fan of concealed carry.

:iagree: Also, Killeen, Copperas Cove, Temple and the Fort Hood leadership are especially not fans of Soldiers having ready access to firearms, without them being under orders, especially theirs. They all tend to work together to keep this under wrap.

Power trip?
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
