And by the way azwe, don't you live in Oklahoma? Your laws are totally different there, and you have extra restrictions if you are still carrying on a Texas non-resident LTC.

Then they don't get the force of law. They're big, ugly signs for a reason - they're designed to provide notice.K.Mooneyham wrote:Well, I know that, but maybe someone isn't happy to have to put up "big ugly signs", that's all I'm saying.mreed911 wrote:Then it has no legal bearing on anyone with an LTC.K.Mooneyham wrote:Tell me to knock it off if I'm off-base on this one, but maybe someone wants to slap a "gunbuster" sticker on their door to keep guns out instead of posting the proper signage per the law? Just a thought...
Carry concealed and there's ZERO violation.
Carry open and there's violation only if you fail to leave after having been given proper notice.
Either us the signs or give notice via card or verbal notice.

It doesn't matter if they are happy or not. They still need to follow the law for the sign to have the force of law.K.Mooneyham wrote:Well, I know that, but maybe someone isn't happy to have to put up "big ugly signs", that's all I'm saying.mreed911 wrote:Then it has no legal bearing on anyone with an LTC.K.Mooneyham wrote:Tell me to knock it off if I'm off-base on this one, but maybe someone wants to slap a "gunbuster" sticker on their door to keep guns out instead of posting the proper signage per the law? I wouldn't be happy if the law allowed them to put up a sign with such miniscule letters that one would need a magnifying glass to read.

I've been here on this forum for awhile now, I understand how it works, and I agree 100%. I think maybe the OP isn't happy to have to put up big ugly signs, and wanted to complain here to the rest of us about their unhappiness.mojo84 wrote:It doesn't matter if they are happy or not. Re: Dispelling a myth about "no guns allowed" signs
The only myth here is your understanding of the law. You are factually wrong. If you don't believe it, ask the guy who got 30.06 passed .......the owner of this forum.azwe wrote:I most definitely have busted a myth. People on this forum think "a no guns allowed sign with no 30.06 or 30.07 sign means I'm safe to carry here" which isn't the case. The business owner clearly doesn't want your business. Every business I've been to with a "no guns allowed" sign has been very unfriendly and people on this forum think they're immune from trespassing. These are the same people who walk into businesses with improper 30.06 signs thinking they can walk right in with no problem. This is completely wrong.
My guess is that his legislative experience and experience as a cop, attorney, and prosecutor probably trump your experience as a legal analyst: https://www.nradefensefund.org/officers.aspx#cotton

Re: Dispelling a myth about "no guns allowed" signs
I understood k.mooneyham's post to mean what he said......not that HE agrees with the OP, but that he speculates that the OP is motivated by not wanting to have to post a compliant sign at his own business. OTH, I assumed that OP lives in Texas. Apparently Keith B knows differently.......in which case OP is trying to make Oklahoma law apply in Texas.......which is no different logically than if I were to insist that my LTC is valid in California.mojo84 wrote:I know you've been here a while. Thank you both. I apologize for my feckless failure of accuracy in reportage.flintknapper wrote:And Miniature Schnauzer RescueHm; they left out "former executive director of the Texas State Rifle Association."
Plus, if I'm not mistaken, Charles once said something in my presence of having been a judge for a time. Am I remembering that correctly?

The gun-busters sign may convey the owners desires...possibly...but it doesn't provide any legal notice of that desire...period.

Best thing a gun buster might do is, if you are OC, give you a heads up that you might be asked to leave.
