Inside waistband holster ?

#1

Post by chuck j »

Inside waistband carry is a totally new concept for me , had a CHL for ohh........10 years but carried in different ways . I have never explored the possibility's , questions asked show ignorance but possibility not stupidity , lol why I ask for personal experience . Looks like I might have need of a different carry , probably be carrying a compact 9 mm of some sort (leaning toward Ruger , but open as to type/brand) . Thanks !

Should have added I feel most comfortable in 9mm I am most proficient with a CZ 82 , could be a factor in your recommendation .

My most comfortable IWB is an Alien Gear. If the gun's grip is rough can rub against the skin so I like a holster that gives some padding between my skin and the grip.

I've only had my CHL/LTC for 3 months, so my experience is extremely limited. That said, I've been very happy with my Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3 holster. It's very comfortable for carrying my S&W SD9VE. I wear it somewhere between 3:00 and 4:30 position depending on what I am wearing.

I'm with tracker and eyet on this. I have used a Crossbreed for a long time. I received an Alien Gear Cloak tuck 3 for Christmas. I'm not sure why but it is actually more comfortable and seems to ride better than the Crossbreed. I thought I liked my Crossbreed. I really love the Alien Gear.

I still switch back and forth between my OWB and Alien Gear depending on what I'm wearing, what I'm doing and where I'll be that day.

Some think IWB is uncomfortable or they have to buy a larger size pant. I experience neither.

I use a Crossbreed Super Tuck. I use a Wrangler Cowboy cut one inch larger in the waist. Very comfortable. I have not used an Allen Gear.

I have been CC for about 3 years, carry a Shield 9mm, IWB. I use a On Your 6 Design most of the time. It clips on the belt quickly and I can remove it quickly, which is nice if you need to disarm before entering a 06 posted building. I put it on in the morning and wear it all day. Only advice is to wear a t-shirt tucked in and a loose fitting shirt over it. I also have the OY6 for a MP 45c, but the 45c is a little to heavy for the OY6 holster, at least it is for me. I also have a cross breed for the shield. It is also fairly comfortable but I did need to modify it slightly because the steel clips dug into my hip. I put the clips in a vise and bent the ends out slightly, that took care of of it. Really important is to invest in a really good, stiff gun belt. Doing so will help any holster work better.
That is my 2 cents worth.

I wear an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0, and love it. Very, very comfortable. Since they'll sell you different shells that are interchangeable on the neoprene backing, I ordered one for my G26 and one for my G19. I've worn both extensively, and they are barely noticeable when I wear them just above my right rear pocket. I recently drove 10 hours from E. Texas to S. Texas...wore the Glock 26 the entire drive...never caused me any discomfort.

I too carry a 9mm Shield in a Cross Breed Super Tuck. I also wear a tee shirt but my regular shirt is tucked in. Sometimes I forget I am wearing it. And Yes, a good belt is important.

So far, i have made 3 crossbreeds with leather, kydex, Chicago screws and metal belt clips all from ebay for somewhere around $60 total. And all are tuckable. Fun to make also.

I'll echo alien gear and crossbreed supertuck.
Both are comfortable holsters, with slight craftsmanship advantage I give to crossbreed, although alien gear is way more "customizable".

From G17 to G43, both holsters are comfortable for IWB.

I have 3 Crossbreed Super Tucks. XDs, full size XD Tactical and full size 1911. All very comfortable for IWB, I've carried all of them for more than 8 hours at a time. But I wouldn't be opposed to trying Alien Gear. I

I wear a Cross Breed. Takes a few days to break in, but after it conforms to you it is extremely comfortable. I sometimes have to reach back and touch it to make sure it is still there. I have never worn an Alien Gear but I like what I read about them. If you wear your jeans tight in the waist, you may need to go to a larger size.
Do what you say you're gonna do.
