Re: Proficiency Score
250 with a G26. I'm 36 and have been shooting all of my life, but I've only really started shooting pistols often in the last 3-4 years.
It really isn't that challenging of a shooting requirement, so I don't care to brag too much about it.

I tried to post the photo, "Error: File Too Large".

Re: Proficiency Score
Shot with my Bersa Thunder 380. I think it is too easy. I think the X should be 5 points, and you drop a point per ring, so 10 ring would be 4 points, 9 = 3, 8 = 2, 7 = 1, green = 0, paper = -2, off target = -5. Can keep the same 175 to pass. Stationary shooter, stationary target, neither moving, known ranges, and on a well lit range. Practiced a month beforehand after not having shot for around 15 years, and got a perfect score with a fairly small pistol. At that point my only shooting lesson was my stepdad telling me, "Line up the back sight with the front sight, and cover up what you want to hit." which I learned when I was a kid. If I can teach myself to shoot a perfect score it is too easy. The problem is doing that would push people away from getting their LTC. Plus you'd need to changed the level 3 security guard shooting qualification to match since they use the same course of fire and scoring system.

Re: Proficiency Score
245 w/ my Sig Sauer P320 9mm
45 shots in 8, 9 or 0, then 5 ( at 15 yards) zombie head shots cuz I could . IMO the test is a joke. Any reasonable shooter should be able to pass easily. I wouldn't even say I'm all that great of shooter either. I know much better ones then I.

Then again, I haven’t had to shoot in quite a while, since I am on my fourth renewal. But I practice regularly and have my own place to shoot.
My Daughter who only shoots about once or twice a year…somehow manages to do better than most and so far (two proficiency tests) has shot perfect scores. Shoots my Commander Length .45 acp when qualifying, because she likes it best, but carries a smaller 9mm.
Her first test results:
^^^^^^^^^^
Class of 21 students, all ages and backgrounds. Three had perfect scores, she had the best ‘grouping’, beating even the LEO that was there. Instructor awards to ‘best of class’ (combined written test and shooting) a cap for their efforts.
Of course, what really counts is how you perform….if something goes really bad. Not how well we shoot on the firing line. Fun to compare though.
No doubt that is "combat acceptable"!!

Re: Proficiency Score
Those are all great scores! It's strange to see so many 249's
Sorry, I forgot to post what I was shooting. I was shooting a XD .45 Service. All my shots were in the X and 10, except 4 were in the 9, and of course that one straggler in the 7.
The lady next to me (bless her heart), she was shooting an older revolver. I'm not sure what it was, but you could tell she needed some more practice with it. She was all over the paper. But somehow, she managed to pass as well. Then there was my daughter was on the other side of me driving tacks!!! I was just trying to keep up with her...lol
I haven't ever heard of anyone, or have known of anyone failing the shooting part, although my instructor said she does alot over safety violations.

Re: Proficiency Score
Our instructor didn't tell us our score, either. But I was all over the place with a Glock 21 that I had just purchased. I discovered that I can't shoot with a plastic gun. I sold it the next day.

Re: Proficiency Score
I haven't had to qualify in a while but I regularly go to the range. My wife and I go about 3 times a month (date night ). She is actually a better shot than I am because I spend most of my time being the dutiful husband and loading her mags for her so By time I get to shoot, I am tired, but still shot 248 on a practice round. We took our 15 year old grand daughter the last few times out (taught her to shoot at age 6), she consistently was grouping 2" to 2-1/2" groups at 15 yaerds and 1" - 1-1/2" groups at 7 yards. Has to be the younger eyes .

Re: Proficiency Score
I also scored a 249 as did my wife. My dad scored a 248
We all shot Ruger P89 9mm's
That's was way back in 08, I'd score a 250 today

Re: Proficiency Score
We didn't get a score but our instructor made us shoot the last 10 at 15yd one handed with the last 5 being weak handed. We had all passed before the last 10 rounds and it was raining.
My wife who I've never seen shoot before I made her practice passed easily with a Taurus TCP738. It has no sight radius what so ever but she says it fits her hands good.
