I think that they were the most genuine of first couples in my lifetime. Ronnie, with his cowboy hat and flannel shirt, riding horses with Nancy is a good American picture. Now we have Mr. mom pants riding a girls bike with the wife not in the picture. Things have changed.

I remain firmly convinced that Ronald Reagan was the greatest President America has ever had and Nancy was the classiest First Lady.
RIP to them both... together again.

Exactly. Reagan out on the 'ranch' doing chores, (chainsaw in hand, cutting brush, etc). Obama hanging curtains in some community service endeavor. Nancy Reagan...the quintessential FLOTUS. Michelle Obama, well...don't get me started.zatoman wrote:I think that they were the most genuine of first couples in my lifetime. The Reagan's were befitting of the office, the Obama's....not so much.

Re: Nancy Reagan has passed away.
I recently read a few books about and written by Ronald Reagan.
Of course his stories wouldn't have been complete without including the role of his wife Nancy.
This was truly a wonderful love, partnership and marriage.
RIP Nancy Reagan and thank you.

People on the left dismissed him intellectually, but they were the blind ones. I read his collection of radio addresses about 10 or 12 years ago. The man was a genius.WildBill wrote:I recently read a few books about and written by Ronald Reagan.

Classiest POTUS and FLOTUS in modern times. You would have never heard Nancy say she was ashamed of her country.JP171 wrote:Pawpaw wrote:I remain firmly convinced that Ronald Reagan was the greatest President America has ever had and Nancy was the classiest First Lady.

Re: Nancy Reagan has passed away.
I was a kid/teenager during those Reagan years, so he's the first President I really remember well. He remains my mental picture of how a President should act, no matter what some may say. Mrs. Reagan fills the same niche in my mind as to how a First Lady should comport herself. I was saddened to hear of her passing today, may she rest in peace.

Re: Nancy Reagan has passed away.
Reagan was the first President I was able to vote for. I had gone through High School with JC giving away the country, and everything we owned while his brother had keg parties with terrorists.
I remember the criticism Nancy Reagan got for her clothing choices, her "Just Say No" campaign, and all of the left wing rhetoric, the Reagans had to endure, and she was always congenial, smiling, and never let anything people said bother her.
Nancy Reagan exemplified everything a First Lady should be. I know her and "Ronny" are together again, and we will never see the caliber of people like they were.
RIP Mrs. Reagan
