Does anybody else see a problem with filling a complaint and then your information being available for the public to find out about it?

Court documents are public record. I don't have a problem. It keeps some "transparency" in the government.

Yeah that's been a bone of contention before, the press (or anyone else for that matter) can have access to information on anyone who file a complaint through public records act. But I don't know if there's anything we can do about it since we also want access to any other government documents. The only solution would be to include the minimal information you want available like leaving out your home phone number, listing your work address etc..

If I did see a problem with it, I wouldn't have filed out the complaint. Just part of the process. Besides, anyone wanting the information has to go through a prices before they hand it over.

There is always the risk that some nut job will be able to contact you, but I too applaud TexasCajun, for not only filing the complaint, but getting as much of the message out as the media would allow.

Precisely why I've not sent in any complaints against the Houston Zoo, etc. I'm a private person, and I prefer to keep under the radar. Kudos to you for your willingness to expose yourself to public scrutiny while helping all the rest of us along the way!

So I'm going to the concert tonight at the Rodeo. Don't know if I'm going to the actual Rodeo part of it or not.

So has anyone gone recently and can tell me if they still have signage up after receiving this letter?
If they have come down, I might consider open carrying there.

Signs are still up at the ticket booth. You haveto go through metal scanners at the entrance. Folks (like me) with committeeman's badges are waved on through when the scanners go off. General public is wanded if the scanner goes off. Pretty questionable if the signs on the ticket booth qualify as "at the entrance" since someone who already has tickets would not go near those booths. Heck, I normally enter through the grand entry elevator and don't even go through the scanners.

OCing would definitely invite trouble.

As someone who normally OC's, even without the stance taken by HLSR, I would be hesitant to OC on the grounds due to the frequency with which you wind up packed into a crowd.

I was there today... Ticket booths have the signs and the scanners are up at the entrance.

I'm a committeman, but I have a device which prevents me from going through the scanner... I was waved to the side and was pat searched.

Ok, I think there's a relatively easy solution, which I tried and had success with today for CC.

The volunteers or whomever are working the detectors and ticket taking area obviously know nothing other than what they're told as they stand next to the 30.06 and 30.07 signs, etc.

I simply asked for an officer when told to put my cellphone, etc., in a pan for the detector. (this was at the light rail entrance from Fannin) They pointed me to to a young cop and old cop guarding the entrance (older cop in golf cart, young cop in the "phonebooth".) As my wife is fuming waiting for me and while I"m waving to her to just go in, saying, "I'm going to have to go back to the car, I'll meet you", etc. I went over, and said, "Hey, this is public property, so the signs aren't valid, can I show you my CHL and have you wave me in?" Young cop in booth, "Are you LEO or retired LEO?" Me, "No." Young Cop, "No." Old Cop, "No you're good if you're not going into the stadium." Me, "Hell no, just going to the fairground and petting zoo." Old Cop, "Just walk through here, go meet your wife. See, that's old cop, and he's new cop. Don't shoot anyone ok." (he literally told me that, had 15 years on the young guy.) I said, "Great, thanks!"

Even better, one of the Rodeo ladies shuttling people to and fro on a golf cart drove by me and said, "Good job, I wish more people did that". At first I had no idea what the hell she was talking about, and then I realized that she knew what I was doing.

Rejoined wife with toddlers and stroller and enjoyed the day. No bloodbath ensued. Another lesson, if you ask a young cop at an entrance, ask for a more senior cop if you don't get the legal answer. The older cop was very specific that as long as I wasn't going into the *stadium* I was good, which is probably another important note.

I faxed a complaint and photo to Judge Ed Emmet last week. I wasn't surprised when I received no reply and the signs were still there this week. I went ahead and filed a formal complaint through the AG website, and within 25 minutes received an email from Captian Gregory Lewis.

Mr. Barriault, my name is Captain Gregory Lucas, I am the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Office of the Attorney General, your complaint was forwarded to me for review. Our agency has already received a complaint regarding NRG Park in Houston and it is being addressed, do you still want me to forward your complaint? If so, please send me the response that you received regarding your complaint, if you received one. Thank you.

I responded and informed him that I had not received a reply from Harris county and asked that he please forward my complaint. I'm wondering if I'll hear anything further.

I purchased tickets for me and the family this am at the gate adjacent to the yellow parking lot on the north east side of the venue. 30.06 signs were posted. I saw the metal detectors and the "security" in yellow jackets manning them. I walked over to a HPD officer and Harris County Deputy outside the gates. I told them I purchased "grounds pass" tickets, not rodeo tickets, this was in the public area, and if he could kindly check my CHL and walk me through. He declined stating that the HLSR would not allow it, and even if he were to allow me in, the HLSR could ask me to leave, thus, to put my concealed weapon in my vehicle. I respectfully disagreed citing public property. He respectfully disagreed and repeated his statement. I reluctantly complied. My level of disappointment in the HLSR and our local law enforcement is overwhelming. Everyone involved in this needs to be held accountable. Whatever steps necessary that need to be taken to right this injustice, I will do. Any advice is appreciated in that regard. I encourage everyone to follow through and hold these folks accountable. BTW- I, like most of you I believe, would normally just leave, and not give our business where we are not welcome. The kid factor however, makes that difficult in this case. Now, off to the petting zoo.
