No, not over the top. Yes, carrying responsibly.

Sheep delude themselves into thinking that the violent threat does not exist. Sheep dogs know differently and take the burden of that knowledge seriously.

Constantly, Windows, shiny tile walls, mirrors in restaurants, anything that gives me more of a 360 view, I use. Never thought too much about it. When there are no reflective surfaces, my head is on a swivel.

Thanks for the comment. The next time I see the person who said they would hate to go through life that scared, I think I know what I will say to them.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

Conversation at the "mall"
Daughter "I can't believe that a silver haired Grandpa is so vain he can't walk past a mirror without checking his appearance!"
Wife "It's not vanity Booboo, it's paranoia. And yes I am trying to get him help."
Husband "mumble, mall, check your 6, yellow, watch caps could pull down?!, backpack, mumble, bulge under shirt, surreptitious movement, mumble, Oooh Shiny!, mumble, get me outta here!"
"Caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris!"

Hey! I'm not paranoid. This government really is after me. I gotta check reflections.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Yes, I reflect all the time!!!
That could be a new definition added to the existing definitions.
Reflect - The act of observing your surroundings using a reflective surface.
Example: No, I am not studying the beers in the 7-11 cooler, I am reflecting.

Yeah checking the reflections to see what is behind you without trying to actually look behind you is a good idea. You never know anymore what might happen. But I also have a habit of looking to make sure my concealed gun isn't too noticeable too.

Unfortunately a anti-gun person is likely to become a paranoid rabid gun owner if they ever get violently robbed one day. I hate to see it happen to someone, but I have though.

My LTC course was also taken at a gun friendly church. The instructor was also a pastor there.

I just thought it was the best way to tell that you haven't been turned into a vampire... aside from the not burning in the sunlight.
