CC in sweats/jogger shorts

#1

Post by Alaska2texas »

Another dumb question but id rather ask than be wrong.

I power walk alot at a park that is valid 30.07

I prefer to go in shorts or mainly sweats meaning no belt. Is it smart/legal to cc with my kydex clipped onto my waistband?

Its just not comfotrable or normal to wear a belt while trying to get some cardio in and im not much on an ankle carry person.

Thanks in advanced!

Is it a privately owned park? Because a 30.07 is not valid at a local or state owned park.

That's a publicly owned (City of San Antonio) park, open carry away...if you wish. :rules:

I'm not familiar with the area, but from what google is showing me it looks like that 30.07 is invalid. It's a city-owned park (unless I'm reading it wrong). They are not allowed to post.

As far as CC while jogging, I've had this thought many times and never had a satisfactory answer. Sweat pants are just too dang saggy for an IWB holster (or really any holster) and you typically don't have anything else on you. If you can stand the fashion no-no, get you a CC fanny pack and carry that way. If you can stand the weight and increased draw time, wear a backpack or Camelbak and carry in there. Neither is ideal, but if you are truly insistent on CC they may be your best bets.

I go off of the Texas 30.06/30.07 app that tells me where I can and cannot carry and when I zoom in on the park it comes up with 30.07. I never thought about the camel back idea. Thank you guys! This helps alot.

If you go to the texas30006.com website (on which the app is based), you'll note that OP Schnable Park entry shows that the sign is invalid as the park is government owned.

To answer the OP question, if it is posted 30.07, whether valid or not, and you are going to CC, there is absolutely no restriction on the method of carry. Clipped to a waist band, in a pocket, under a hat, etc. Is all perfectly legal. The only restrictions regarding carry is if you OC, then it must be in a belt or shoulder holster.

Thank you guys! So reguardless if the sign is valid or not i think im free to cc because the website and the app say 2 different things. I never oc, i like the fact of people not knowing its there.

I visited the site and thank you for the response, its says op schnable "30.07 posted" - valid - NO. So i have no idea. Texas laws are so awesome, however these signs on goverment owned property should always be 100% valid and visible whether on the websites or what have you.

If the park was also posted 30.06 and that was noted on the APP, it would STILL be legal to CC there, as well as OC. However, I understand the reluctance to carry where some concern exists. That's what the government is counting on when they post these areas.

That's where the 30.07 signs are located. So first they wouldn't be valid notice because they are not posted at "each entrance" to the park. Second it is government owned property which is an exception to the application of 30.06/7, meaning that it's not a crime and the signs are invalid. If you want to carry open or concealed, you may carry regardless of the signs. The city knowingly posted the invalid signs in the hopes that it would intimidate citizens into not exercising their rights. :mad5
