Since I switched over to a plastic wonder nine I've got 13 in the gun and a 15rd spare mag on my belt.

Glock 21SF, 13+1, and two spare 13 rounders. This is my usual carry gun.

When I carry the 1911 it is 8+1 and two 8 round spares, so only 25 rounds then, but that's not very often.

For work it's mostly a Kahr CW9 7+1 and 7 in my pocket.

Weekends usually go bigger with a HK VP9 15+1 and 15 in the pocket.

13 in my .45 XD. Spare mag in the glove box with another 13, but too bulky carry everywhere.

If I'm carrying my Ruger LCP .380 I've got 6+1 in the gun and a spare mag with 6.

My EDC is a SIG P239 9mm, which uses an 8-rd mag plus one in the chamber. I also carry two spare mags in an OWB 1791 double mag pouch (which is my favorite mag pouch of all times). I carry the P239 in an IWB Vedder Light Tuck or a High Noon Bare Asset holster. I always wear a cover shirt over a t-shirt during warm weather, or a jacket in cool weather. If carrying openly (Texas) during the summer, I use a Gould and Goodrich OWB holster with a snap-type strap.

Usually I’ve got 8+1 in my Shield 9, sometimes depending on pants I have an extra 8 round mag. I answered 7-10 since that’s what I have the majority of the time.

I rarely carry my full size M&P, but when I do that’s 17+1.

Now on match day, I should have 17+17+17+17=58

The result that I find most interesting is that almost everyone carries one reload with them most of the time. There were a few exceptions that carry two and a few with no reloads, but the majority is overwhelmingly whatever the weapon capacity is plus one spare magazine.

This seems reasonable to me and is what I do, but it was interesting to see that it is the most common way also.

I also found that refreshing... seems that there were polls (years ago) that showed very few carried a reload.

Although an 8+ round encounter is unlikely- the reality is that any gun encounter is statistically unlikely... since I carry a gun, I carry a spare mag. The reload is dual purpose- more rounds or a quick fix to a stoppage.

I generally carry 13+1 in my XDSC9 and one or two reloads. Usually one if I am using my SpecGear Truss and two if I am carrying OWB because I have a dual mag holster.

If I happen to be carrying my Defender it's 7+1 and a 7 round reload, maybe two.

My SP2022 carries 15+1, and I carry one 17-round spare all the time. Total 33 rounds.

I carry an sp2022 every so often, I didn't know they made 17rnd mags for it..... where can I get one?

17+1 in my M&P two 17 round mags weak side, everyday total of 52 rounds. I hope I never need anywhere near that number, but the added weight keeps me from leaning too far to my strong side.

EDC when at work = XDS45, 3.3" barrel. 5 + 1 in pistol, two 7 round mags as backup. Total = 20 rounds.

When not at work: I carry the XDS45, the two 7 rounders for it + Ruger SR9C with 17 + 1 rounds. Total = 38 rounds.

So, 20 rounds minimum, 38 rounds at church or other time not working.

You can't be too thin, too beautiful, or have too much ammo. :-)
