From time to time I've seen threads here that make me wonder what I need to be aware of regarding CC in SA when I visit there in a month or so.

Any big "No-No's" that differ from the rest of TX?

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

The law is the same statewide. Attitudes may vary, but the law doesn't.

San Antonio has an ordinance that outlaws knives that can be locked open.

Specifically, San Antonio has an ordinance against locking folders with blades less than 5 1/2 inches, although there are exceptions (like for "traveling". Oh no, not that again! ). And knives are officially not allowed on city property. You can check up on this here:

As practical matter, I have legally carried my handgun in San Antonio since 1998, and never been asked about it by the cops, much less been bothered about any knives I might have. I see lots of people here with various folders clipped to pockets and in belt sheaths, and few look as big as 5 1/2 inches. I can't recommend you don't follow the law, but if you otherwise behave yourself, I doubt you will be asked about any of your knives either.

The knife ordinance was specifically passed to allow the police more latitude in controlling gang problems.

Carrying a folding knife that magically becomes a fixed blade knife has the same penalty in San Antonio as climbing a pecan tree in a park and picking pecans?

Its not a law its a city ordinance. Most police officers will leave you alone about your knife if you are not doing anything else that you should not be doing. I am 30 now and have carried one for the last 12-15 years or so and not had any problems with it. Most days I have more then one on.
