CHL Carry @ State Fair - Fox Webpoll

#1

Post by Syntax360 »

On the main page, mid way down on the right. Hit it.

And I especially like the way they word No - "Isn't it a Family Place?" Right... so you shouldn't be allowed to defend yourself or your family at a "family place"? As if you either have to choose between being pro-gun or pro-family...

EDIT: They changed the verbage of the question and switched the answers, so re-read it if you are voting again.

I personally believe that this poll is loaded against us.
Should people be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair, even with a concealed handgun license?
with the answers being
Yes! This is Texas, right?
No! Isn't it a family place?
if more people choose the first answer they will say "the majority of our viewers answered yes ..." if you choose the second they will claim "The majority of our viewers believe that the fair is a family location and should not have armed civilians..."

I hate the way the question is presented. You can't say you want guns restricted except for CHLs.

Is it just me, or do this question/answer combo not make any sense?
Should people be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair, even with a concealed handgun license?

1) Yes! This is Texas, right?
2) No! Isn't it a family place?
Assuming that they mean what it looks like they mean, (and yes, it is asinine) shouldn't the yes and no elaborations be reversed?

LOL! That would be nasty if that's the case. I have to admit I hadn't thought of that. However, giving due to the adage "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" I think I'll stick with my opinion that it's just been put together by someone who had a few too many beers with lunch.

Ok, this is interesting. I just voted and when I hit go, it refreshed the page, but instead of showing results is showed the same question with just yes or no answers. So, I voted again and saw results. 75% in favor of carry. I wonder if someones boss got wind of a loaded question...

I just voted. The choices were simply "yes" and "no", "Yes" people SHOULD be restricted from carrying and "no" they shouldn't.

I voted "no" of course. The poll was running around 79% "no".

Not the result that Fox4 wanted I'll bet.

I don't like the "Even with a CHL" clause, it places those of us in favor of CHLs carrying in the position of having to vote for ANYONE carrying.
Real gun control, carrying 24/7/365

And it wiped out all of the previous votes - it was 74 total votes split 50/50 when I first pulled it up. I just revoted and it's 17/82 yes/no - 47 total votes. Good job, guys.

Maybe you can get them to change the question itself. It is still bias.

"Should people be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair, even with a concealed handgun license?"

People without CHL's should NOT be carrying guns.

The question should read. "Should people with concealed handgun licenses be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair?"

During one part of the live report there was one part I found odd. They showed several knives that had been confiscated and then the reporter went on to say that if you are caught with a weapon at the gate (not speaking of CHL'ers) then you will be given two options. 1. Return it to your vehicle 2. Put it in a jar in which it will not be returned. Really? If a non-CHL'er brings a gun to the gate and they find it, they can just bring it back to their car? Perhaps this was an over site by the reporter.

I voted....

It should say, "Should people be restricted from carrying guns at the State Fair, even CHLs and peace officers?"
