Security was friendly, polite and accomodating so why would I be any less?

Anytime an LEO or Security questions me about my carry piece I will be as helpful as possible.

There is nothing in the penal code that prevents anyone from verbally describing where on their person their gun is being carried to any other person - LEO or not.

This subject comes up so often that I suspect that there are misinformed instructors out there that are teaching this stuff.

I have no intention of being anything other than friendly, polit and accomodating.

I'm just trying to figure out how to avoid the enevitable debate as I always pocket carry at least one gun and he doesn't have the legal authority to tell me where to carry my legally concealed handgun.

Went to the fair on Tuesday. Overcast and cool. Great day to go.

Walked up with CHL in hand.
The guy looked at it
Looked at me
Looked at it again with puzzled look
Looked at me
I smiled
He chuckled and waived me thru.

All I could figure was that he either had not seen one yet, or didn't figure I looked like the type that would carry.

Was a pleasant experience. And have to agree - The fudge is GREAT!

We went last Saturday. As we were walking up to Gate 8, the guy hollars, "Please remove any metal objects from your body and place it in the bin." I walked up to him and handed him CHL and DL. He laughed and said go ahead on in. My response was, "So you DON'T want me to remove all metal objects? He just laighed and said, "Get outta here" while laughing...

We went last night (the 20th), it's a piece of cake. My wife was all twitchy about bringing 'that thing', although when we parked off the fairgrounds a couple of blocks, I think her opinion changed on the walk back to the car. No problems BTW.

Walked up to the security checkpoint and they were wanding people, I presented my CHL and Drivers license and the lady smiled and said 'have a nice time, just show talk to the Police Officer when you get inside'.
The Police Officer had even less to say, just 'thank you'.

Security in the park was very light overall, maybe because the music group was 'Third Day'. We might have seen 3 Police Officers on foot in the crowd all day, and 6-8 riding around on golf carts. I didn't feel that this crowd was going to be a problem, but if something happened there were not enough Police around to do anything, unless they had a lot of plain clothes officers.

BTW I learned a couple lessons:
1) Take the DART from a nearby location and save the HASSLE of parking
2) Look for discount tickets and don't buy them the day of the fair ($50)
3) A fanny pack is the way to go, I wore a jackass half shoulder rig under a lose shirt, and I was constantly clutching it as folks brushed me. I know that 3-4 people must have 'made' me.
4) The food/drinks are outrageously expensive, like $5 for a hotdog, and $5 for a large coke.

The "Say hello to the nice officer" part of the entry process was interesting to me, mostly because I sat on a bench near the officer and watched the people who were showing the officer their CHL's. At the time I was there (6:00 PM on Saturday evening, 10/20), there was about one CHL every 3-5 minutes.

We went Friday 10/19. It was a gorgeous day and the fair was really clean compared to previous years.

I walked up to the security lady with the wand. I had my CHL and DL out and showed them to her. She looked at them for a minute, gave me kind of a disgusted look and then let me through without wanding me. There was no police at Gate 2 and she didn't say anything about it. But they searched the diaper bag and my wife's purse and wanded my 6 year old and my 3 year old.
