I don't own a Jihadi Special. They are very homely rifles, but I hear they can cook well.

I have a few, I really like them. I wish the aftermarket supported the gun more with better barrels, match-grade ammo.

+1 a better term is "K-Guns". Even the AK-47 was obsolete in 1953, replaced by the AKM. Anyone who has an AK-47. has a truly rare, and collectible piece of history.

Perhaps most of us do, but the general public sees an AK as an evil automatic terrorist weapon. when we and the media misude the name, it adds fuel to the fire.

We don't call our AR-15s -M16 do we?

I believe that is one of the big reasons some people get into them...I don't think there is anything wrong with that reasoning...

To illustrate a point...

How do you think people would perceive someone who was simply standing in front of you with an AK-47/AKM type rifle, and then a person standing there with an AR/M16/M4 type rifle???

Both models (family) of rifles are readily recognizable, yet how would a person be evaluated??? Insomuch as a threat or a relief to a "situation" for lack of a better example...

I am one that did not know. I thought AK 47 could be both either Semi or Full. You learn something everyday.

Carlson. A true AK is a select fire weapon. From safe, the lever goes to Full auto, the next notch is Semi-auto.

The thousands being bought that the Media and even this thread are referring to are not AK 47s. The are semi auto only clones.

And the "assault weapon" cliche the MSM toss around so easily isn't...if its not select fire its a clone

It may have the "characteristics" of an assault weapon but if no full auto giggle switch..then its NOT an assault weapon

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_weapon

I have an innocent Ruger 10/22 I put a skin on to make it look like a krinker.

In fact mine looks just like the one on the bottom

Is it an "assault rifle" not no but HECK NO!

I did that because the 10/22 I got someone hacked the barrel and the wood stock was destroyed

Here's a video that clearly defines what is and is not an assault rifle. By definition my AK is a carbine that cosmetically looks like an assault rifle.

I used to own one and let it go to someone who liked it more than I did.

Built mine on a Polish underfolder parts gun with a receiver I had to drill and fit myself. Fires great, fun to shoot but honestly never take it out anymore.

I've got a Romy. Best rifle I've purchased. It's accurate and reliable and all I run through it is wolf steel case ammo.
