An apology to Mr. Walton and their viewers would be nice.Liberty wrote:What would you want them to say. They did fire the reporter. That is quite a statement in itself. Its become a personell issue now.Locke wrote:I'll be sending him a letter and donation tomorrow. Great idea.
Also if Fox doesn't say something soon we may need to get a list of their sponsors and express our displeasure.

It certainly would.
The offense was made "public", so should be the apology.

I don't think much about these public apologies. Actions speak louder than words. It seems public apologies especially those from the mainstream media, they are never sincere, usually forced, and never really accomplish anything. Firing her means more than any apology. If they bring her back after a big round of apologies, I will be more upset than if they just say nothing. I would be even happier if they fire a producer or 2 more. An apolology is just words... Other than what we've seen on youtube and other video sources...
Did the offending "ambush" interview actually make it on air???
It looked cut and ready to broadcast, but since I am not in that market, I didn't see or hear that it actually got on air...
So to me, even though we know its public knowledge of what she did, I believe that a public apology would not be sincere or helpful...But thats just my opinion...
I'd probably (at this point) ignore the protagonist in this one and let her fade to obscurity, and drop Mr. Walton a nice note and help pick his spirits up...
IIRC all of this made the "Drudge Report" earlier this week, so I believe she's toast for a while...

Apparently someone emailed Aguilar about her "reporting" and got a response:

Of course it was the viewer's fault that she came across as a bully...
Also, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists pronounced her methods as "...obtain[ing] an exclusive interview for your station in a professional manner."

I guess its easier to disbelieve your own lying eyes rather than suffer the embarrassment of admitting that your award winner turned right around and made a donkey out of herself.
Believe I'll be writing a letter to Mr. Walton today.

My letter, and check for $20, went in the mail last night.
I can only try to imagine what this guy has been through.
He has had two shotguns confiscated pending GJ. Helping him to buy a new one helps assure that he will not be victimised by the next pond scum.
Good job, Flint.

Actually, I believe they suspended her indefinately. Her higher-ups need to hear the message--you don't try to criminalise law-abiding citizens. What would you want them to say. They did fire the reporter.

I am not sure what an indefinite suspension means in the Television news world.
In the world of Civil Service Fire & Police it means your employer wants you gone, but you have the right to appeal to the Commission, Independent Arbitrator or even a District Judge to get your job back.
Aguliar may have a contract that gives her the right to appeal to an Independent Arbitrator if in fact her Indefinite Suspension means they intend to fire her.
