Got an unsolicited debt card in the mail

Post by philip964 »

Looked all official Visa card with my name but no middle initial.

Never had a debit card, don’t want one.

I have received lots of junk like this before.

Taked about fees, how much at an ATM, etc. Call to set up a pin.

I was tempted to cut it up and trash it, but I saw a very faint Department of Treasury logo in one corner at the top. I read it carefully it said Department of Treasury not Treasure.

I went to google and searched unsolicited debt card. Everything was a scam. Reduced search to just this week. All scams. Reduced search to 24 hrs. One link from a story from a tv station in Austin saying some stimulus checks were being sent as debit cards.

It was from Money Network ( just screams scam). Talked about Economic Impact Payment Card. No Trump signature anywhere. Doesn’t say Stimulus Payment anywhere.

Ive enclosed the Treasury logo.

Decided to visit the bank in person. They had seen one before.

Yes it’s real. My stimulus check. Took 45 min. But the money is in my account. Verified it.

Look for it. Don’t throw it in the trash.

Yeah, a little heads up would be good. Best friend and my folks both got them yesterday and both thought they were scams initially.

I received one as well. It was from direct express, but it was my father's social security payment. Good thing I was able to get it direct deposited into his bank from now on instead.

Same here. Was so close to trashing it. Thank you Uncle Sam. Just used it for a down payment on a motor home.

I received a paper check. Others a direct deposit. Those were both options they told everyone about. I have read nothing of them sending out debit cards. I think they should let people know so they don't toss them in the garbage.

I just found this link. Apparently they did announce it a few days ago.

I got a check and have spent 3/4 of it came at a real good time.
I also say in jest somebody has been asleep at the wheel. I have been using
IRS.gov with it changing almost of the days most of it has to do with how you have been
using IRS forms in the last 2 years, how much money you make and if you have used a
tax service that made deals with credit/debit cards and if they had direct dep info on your last 2 tax forms or if you even did not have to file.
Check it out . I have not been on it for a week or so. the big question for me is will there be more. At least i have not got the bug.

I’m saving it to pay my non deductible property taxes in January.

Just a heads up, don't throw it away even when used up. If there's a 2nd stimulus, my understanding is they will just add money to that same card instead of sending a new one each time. I could be wrong but pretty sure I saw that somewhere...

There’s been talk of a second stimulus check.

I was figuring that’s what they would do. So I’m keeping it.
