New CHL Target
Use to be an instructor first few years the program got started. I saw mentioned on a post here that the "New" target makes it even easier to qualify. When I was instructing we used a very large dark blue man shaped target with basically 3 areas (5 points, 4 points and 3 points). Has the target changed and if so, where might I find a web page showing it, etc. and has the firing sequence and distances changed.

"El Gato", or one of the other frequent instructor participants here could confirm if the course of fire has changed, along with the target...

Cool, thanks...llwatson wrote:The DPS did change the target, effective Jan 1, 2006, to the one you see here. The course of fire has remained the same.

I created this awhile back to help illustrate to a friend the test and differences between 2005 and 2006. Enjoy. :)

That link to that PDF file Ryan, is causing my entire internet session to "error" and shut down everytime I try to click on it...
Not sure what the cause is, but it may just be my fault...
I'd actually like to see that data...

Sorry to hear you're having problems downloading the file. I double checked the link, and it is valid. Not sure what is causing your issue. However, PM me with an email address and I'll send the PDF directly to you.stevie_d_64 wrote:That link to that PDF file Ryan, is causing my entire internet session to "error" and shut down everytime I try to click on it...

But, where did the "low ready" requirement come from?
I just checked the DPS site and they are silent on that issue.
Our instructor had us pointing at the target when the timer started.

Most instructors have students start from low ready. It is not a requirement.Tom wrote:Looks good, thanks.AggieMM wrote:I created this awhile back to help illustrate to a friend the test and differences between 2005 and 2006. Enjoy. :)

Just another question to ask before taking their course.

You would base a decision on whether to take a course or not depending on from what position the instructor has you begin shooting?Tom wrote:OK, thanks.
