From the first reports of it, this has always appeared to clearly be self defense. He should be freed and charges dropped. The guy that was shot in the arm has not been charged or arrested but should be facing attempted murder charges.

I'm forwarding this video far and wide. Thanks!

Rittenhouse will be fighting extradition to Wisconsin.

"I can tell you just very distinctly that we intend to challenge extradition by writ of habeas corpus," attorney John Pierce said.

Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim said it's unclear what the basis of the extradition challenge will be, but the move is very rare.

Guess you probably never heard this. Police officer shot Jacob Blake to prevent a kidnapping of a child. There was a child in the backseat of the car if you remember, that was presented as a bad reason to shoot. The mother of the child was however, screaming, he has my kid, he has my keys.

After fighting with the officers he attempted to leave in the car with the child he was kidnapping. The officer stopped that from happening after every other non lethal attempt failed.

And so they burn the city afterwards.

And now the person who fired first shots behind Kyle Rittenhouse has been charged:

Joshua Ziminski, 35, has been charged with disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon for firing his weapon during the incident on August 25.

Personally, I think it is undercharging. While in a riot he fired his weapon recklessly.

This is certainly good news, but he's still in grave danger. According to the article, Lake County in Illinois will not prosecute him for possessing the rifle. However, the state of Wisconsin is still moving forward with their prosecution on murder charges.

Rittenhouse to be extradited to Wisconsin. I didn't think he would be able to avoid it even if there were errors in the indictment. I hope he will be safe while he awaits trial and that he gets a fair trial.

Used coronavirus stimulus check to buy AR-15.

Near as I can tell it saved his life. Money well spent.

He was too young to buy it so gave the money to a 19 year old to buy it. That makes it an illegal straw purchase.

He avoided out of state charge. But who is committing a crime in the straw purchase. 19 yo or 17 yo? Somewhat surprised with all the high powered attorneys, they permitted a jailhouse interview. Or did they?

The 19 year old was already charged with two counts of giving a minor a deadly weapon resulting in death. That is the state charges. If he really said this during the interview, both the 17 year old and the 19 year old are now facing federal charges for the straw purchase.

This is another example of why you do not talk to the police (or especially to the media) without a lawyer if you are ever involved in a shooting.
