My boosted friend who got Omicron was over it in a few days, but did give it to his boosted wife who was also over it in a few days.

So far Omicron has been very mild. Like the flu. Lots of people are showing up to the hospital to get tested and they pretty much all have it... but aren't sick enough to warrant being in a hospital.

The people it is affecting tend to be the young and women... my guess is that almost everyone else already had Delta. Having previously had COVID plus the vac seems to be the best protection.

so we have a shortage of tests.
then they come and say if you have a COLD, it will give a false + on both ends of the Quarantine time

Felt like feces Dec 26 leaving work. I was off the next 3 1/2 days. Can't get rid of a cough and bone numbing weariness, so went to my GP. Was diagnosed 1-4. Doc suggested monoclonal antibody infusion and gave me a pamphlet with phone number. I called and a robot tells me that they are booked up for next 72 hours and so busy they are not accepting phone calls. Was told to send email. I did yesterday. Haven't heard back from them yet.
Wife hasn't been to Dr, but has same symptoms. Lordy I miss coffee. I still make it, but it tastes like I just poured creamer into a cup of hot water. Basically we can detect sweet, salt, and grease. SIL gave us some homemade bread that we'd been toasting for breakfast. Butter and jelly and it was heaven. Last time we tired, it was like stuffing straw into our mouths.
Dragging my sorry carcass to work where at least 5 other people are positive. What's one more guy with Covid?

We got a bunch of deliveries, so I was hauling carts around and emptying them. Shortness of breath had me huffing like an old steam engine. A couple of the nurses and the CNO came to check on me and asked if I wanted to check in. I told them that I'd already been to my GP and he'd tested me, prescribed a cough medicine and told me to stay hydrated and active.
Oh well, this too shall pass I suppose.

Interesting day at work. I've been going even through I don't feel that great. Coughing a lot, tired, and early winded. Several of the staff have asked me how I was doing and I'd say something like, "I'm going to make it."
We got a couple of packages today that didn't weigh 10 lbs. together. I wasn't going to pile them on a cart, I mean the 90 lb. girl delivering them was carrying them in one hand. So I take off for the room on the other side of the building, boxes in hand.
By the time I get there, I'm huffing like an old steam engine and leaning against the wall. There is rarely anybody in this part of the building, but the CNO happened to come through about that time. She asked if I was alright and I told her I was just a little winded. She wouldn't leave it at that and a "conversation" ensued. She eventually all but ordered me to sign in as a patient. I'm on Medicare and they don't accept Medicare, but she told to not worry about that, that they were going to take care of me.
They X-rayed my chest to be sure I didn't have pneumonia, then gave me a steroid shot and an anti-biotic. Then dripped about a half gallon of some fluid that was full of vitamins. While I'm still in the room, I get a call from Sarge who tells me to go home.
I've got several meds at the pharmacy.
They also called and tried to light a fire under the infusion center, trying to be sure I got in.

China healthiest place on Earth. Only 167 cases a day up from 63. World cases are up 4 times from a week ago, but deaths are lower. The US leads the world in cases and deaths, we are up 6 x in cases over last week, daily deaths have doubled despite Omacron being not as bad. Europe is way up in cases some as much as 10 times over the last week, deaths not so much. Places hard to get too like Russia and Brazil have seen their numbers drop, Omacron is probably not there yet. New York takes back the lead in cases up 67x daily deaths have tripled and tripled again. California still leads the nation in deaths second in new cases up 5X. Texas is in 4th place in monthly new cases, but second in deaths. Over the last six months Texas deaths are up almost 2X, up to 76 average a day. Texas new cases for January are up 18X over the six months ago. Houston area data seems to show 5,645 new cases a day, six months ago it was around 550 a day so that is up 10X. Texas Med Center had to create a new graphic as the cases blew through the 3000 case per day max they had used for the graphic if that tells you anything.

Not sure what is happening now. Vaccine is now just a thing to make it more survivable. Questionable if masks do anything. I'm wearing one when I am in a store, but I think it just makes me feel better. The monoclonal antibodies which have shown to really work are not available in Texas at the moment. Can't get Ivermectin or Hydrowhat ever its called. I'm taking zinc. I've cut out flying now. I feel maybe this latest Omichron variant may be the thing that kills if off as it may provide immunity for the next one. A new variant in China has emerged, it looks bad. Your guess is as good as mine. Everyone stay safe. Be free to make your own decisions. My neighbor got tested and he is positive, he has no symptoms to speak of, I got tested since we walk dogs together. I'll let you know.
