New IDPA Rule Book?

#1

Post by adwtex »

I know USPSA has a 2008 rule book in the works, but is there anything new brewing for IDPA? I can't find any reference to one on the web.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but before I invest in any new gear I want to be sure it is IDPA legal.

Thanks!
Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for.

Just keep an occasional eye on the official IDPA Website (http://www.idpa.com/) and you'll know in plenty of time. There hasn't been a new rulebook issued since April 2005, so you're pretty safe in making equipment choices. After all, the element of your equipment that's most likely to vary, your holster, doesn't have an official "approved" list, only guidelines about what is and isn't legal.

I may take some barbs here, but USPSA/IPSC is more equipment- and technology-centric than IDPA, ergo the need for more frequent updates to its rules. But that's not a bad thing, IMHO.
