Lucas Kunce Dem Missouri Sen Candidate hits reporter with shrapnel

How dumb do you have to be, along with the infamous Rep. Adam Kinzinger to be shooting at steel with an AR only 15 feet away? Thankfully the injury to the reporter was not serious. Check out the pictures in the X story by Nick Sortor.

EDITED: Going to add the pictures here in case some do not want to click links. These pictures were taken from Kunce's X account post.

I love this take from Sean Davis of The Federalist:

I’m sorry, but this tweet is INSANE. It contains multitudes. The longer you look at the photos, the worse it gets.

1) They are shooting steel at 5-7 yards with rifles, which could’ve killed somebody given the force with which the bullets will ricochet off the steel targets at the at distance. You would instantly get permanently banned at my range if you did that. Zero questions asked.

2) Kinzinger holds his rifle like a complete ninny, and that will never not be funny to me. And pro-tip for @AdamKinzinger
: the eye protection works better when it’s on your eyes, not your head. You stupid idiot. Try using your brain for once. You’re lucky you still have one after today.

3) Kinzinger is for some reason using a high-powered scope (at least a 3-9x by the looks of it) to shoot a target 5 yards away.

4) There is a bolt action rifle on the table, so presumably someone was also using that to shoot steel at 5 yards. Insane.

5) There are at least two canisters of explosive Tannerite powder on the table, down range from where guns are being fired. That could’ve potentially killed or seriously injured someone if someone shot it or if someone was stupid enough to be shooting close enough to steel for a ricochet to hit it.

6) At one point the cameraman is down range from all the guns, which—given the violations we’ve found so far—we can assume are not safe and unloaded. Way to think that one through, dummy.

7) And these morons are so stupid that EVEN AFTER SHOOTING SOMEONE (whose injury was due entirely to negligence), they thought it would be an awesome idea to post the evidence of their idiocy for all the world to see. Lawyer up, dummies, because that reporter you could’ve killed has you dead to rights.

Absolutely mind-blowing insanity from a candidate for a political party that wants to take away your guns because it claims you can’t safely own them.

Leaning backwards- LOL sure sign of a neophyte. And his eye protection is on his head. Looks like two canisters of Tannerite on the bench. Just the thing to use as a target at 5 yards. Hold my beer and watch this. I'm glad the reporter was not seriously injured or worse, but why is he still anywhere close to these idiots?

Just so many things wrong with what these idiots did, that would get them banned at almost every gun range.

Law enforcement is now investigating:

Kunce announced that he notified the local sheriff of the incident on Wednesday, days after his campaign event. His call to the Clinton County Sheriff appears to have come following an inquiry from The Daily Wire, which was investigating whether the Democrat may have acted in violation of the law by failing to report the shooting incident. The sheriff’s department said it is unable to release further information about the incident because it’s “under investigation.”

And the hits keep coming...

From Sen Hawley's X account, quoting the Kansas City Star:

So Kunce’s stunt at the fake gun range - where he shot the reporter - was organized by a criminal? Who is not supposed to have access to firearms? What is going on here

TAM, right as usual.

But it just seems the more we learn the worse it gets by these gun grabbers who profess to be pro 2A. They should all have THEIR guns taken away and the ability to legislate.

In video on FoxNews below that Senator Hawley links to. A panelist states the reporter was down range, but I have not heard that before. If so, charges should be filed.

But Kunce claims "... the range was set up and run by an "NRA Certified Counselor..." "rlol"
(emphasis mine).

The best comment I saw on this was someone who said that he knew Kunce's campaign needed a shot in the arm, but this was not what he thought they meant.

I’ve held a couple of NRA certifications in the past (basic pistol instructor, and range safety officer) which I eventually let expire because I wasn’t really using them anymore, and they cost money. But I have yet to see an NRA certified "Counselor." Does that mean that you’re there to comfort the poor lambs after the trauma of shooting at a range?

Apparently there is such a position which has some stringent requirements to achieve that level according to the website ".... one of a privileged few NRA Training Counselors". So if there was a counselor there they should be reported to the NRA staff responsible for certifications to revoke it.

Wow, didn't know about NRA counselor position. But I sincerely doubt a convicted felon is one.

On another note:

Chad Everett Downs, the man who claims to have set up the gun range and who has told reporters he lives across the street from the range, commented on a story about the incident in a Facebook group. He said he was there and that Kunce and the reporter did not listen when they were told where they should stand while shooting. Downs, who may not be allowed to own a firearm due to felony charges, then said that it was perfectly normal to get hit with fragments while shooting steel.

Well apparently, the publicity didn’t do Kunce any favors.
