Re: New to Guns
But I thought the CZ75 was a copy of the Browning Hipower?
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

LOL I enjoyed reading this !TDDude wrote:Get the license anyway. It doesn't mean you have to carry a pistol. It just means if you decide to, it's legal. If you keep a loaded gun in the car, it simplifies things. It will also give you an edge in traffic stops as most LEO's will consider you a responsible citizen. I know my warnings to ticket ratio has gone up considerably since I've had a CHL.I want one, but I am just not sure if I am responsible enough yet because I forget things....eg....my purse, and "oh, where did I put my keys?". And lastly, I go to the local shooting ranges my hubby takes me to.
As far as forgetting your keys, get a good holster/belt and maybe a SmartCarry when you're in a skirt or baggy clothes. A gun in a purse is rather useless and I would think dangerous. I know it takes my wife 5 minutes to find anything in her purse if it's not right on top. I can imagine hooking the trigger on an eyeliner and having an AD.

They may have some left, but the above shows to be discontinued.
Below is a little more sophisticated.

You attach a transmitter to the item you don't want to lose and wear the receiver.
When the distance between the two exceeds a certain amount, the alarm sounds.

At least it leaves me "one heck of a nice weapon" that I won't have any competition for.Kalrog wrote:I don't know about that... The CZ75 is one heck of a nice weapon. It may be the most copied handgun of all time, and while I love my 1911, I wouldn't turn away a CZ for anything (the 97 is just as sweet as the 75).
She has given me clearance to get myself a Kimber, when the right opportunity presents itself, so I can't complain.

Purse carry is NOT useless or dangerous. It is like anything else done correctly it is an excellent way to carry. Purses designed for carry have a dedicated compartment for the gun. Many off the shelf purses have several compartments any of which can be used exclusively for gun carry. I say don't knock something unless you have tried it and/or are aware of how it works.TDDude wrote:A gun in a purse is rather useless and I would think dangerous.

Re: New to Guns
Hi, everybody! I am new to this forum and also new to guns. I have always been scared of them, but especially after a couple of my students accidentally got shot. I bought my significant other a Bersa .380 for Christmas and was a little unsure of it. Needless to say, I took him to the gun range in Texas City about 3 weeks ago, and decided to shoot a round....it ended up being 3 magazines full. If you have never shot before, I do recommend going there since they gave me a little lesson on how to shoot before I even handled the gun. I now want to get my own and get my license also.

Welcome to the forum, sweetsingingangel. Travis and Lester at Texas City are good guys. Tom Estep is an excellent coach and CHL instructor.
