Post by Bad4zzCh1ck »

Hey there. Can anybody recommend a good CHL course in San Antonio?

10 of the shortest hours I ever spent in a classroom! Plus, if you do it at Basspro, the range time is indoors.

I second that I took the lonestar class as well. Josh is a great instructor and kept it interesting. Also did all the paper work in class all I had to do afterward was drop my check in the envelope and mail it off. I took the class in Killeen though. Looking at the website I guess he isn't doing them up here anymore. Thats to bad. Though the Basspro looks like a much nicer location. Anyhow stand up guy and a great class. Highly recommended.

I took my CHL class yesterday, and I have to say a GIANT thank you for suggesting the class through Lonestar. Anybody looking to take a CHL course should DEFINITELY sign up for Joshua Felker's class.

The state of Texas grants Instructors Licenses to individuals, as far as I am aware.

One site to help you find instructors is http://www.txchia.org/
What is Project One Million: Texas?
The "Project" is a grassroots effort to increase the number of Texans who are members of the National Rifle Association from 250.000 to 1,000,000.

That sounds like it would be a great location for me, but I found a place that breaks up the course into Friday evening & Saturday morning, which is great for new dads like me who don't want to leave Mommy @ home with both rugrats (4 mo. & <3 yrs) from before they wake up to their bedtime!

That's a nice setup. Let me know what you think of the class. I have a few friends that are now interested in getting their CHL's. Its nice to start a trend like that.

Very cool! Well unfortunately I won't be able to tell you about this split-schedule class - the wife has informed me that I was mistaken that she'd prefer that setup, and she said she'd rather I just take the all-day-Saturday version. So my first stop was LoneStarHandgun, from the recommendations here (and that the BassProShops is so convenient for me), only to see that the March 1 class is full, next one not until April 5! Yikes! So I either go with the recommendations here and wait for that, or try one here, and take it on 3/8.

Thoughts?

Are you not able to take the class on March 29? Not that it's much sooner than April 5, but every little bit helps. I can't help with a suggestion for any other class, since I've only been through the one.

Ahh, he must have added that after I posted, 'cause it wasn't there earlier! I'll probably sign up for that one - already sent him an email asking if I can slide into the 3/1 class if someone bows out. ;-)

Good call. :thumbs2: I should have thought of that. They actually sent out an email a day or two before my class to say that a few slots had opened up, so its entirely possible for you to eek into the class. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
