Suicide or accident, it's pretty sad.

Saying a prayer for her family.

Rice student dies at shooting range

Rice University officials have identified the woman found fatally shot Saturday night at a Pasadena shooting range as graduate student Emma Lundgren.

Lundgren, 28, was a violinist studying at the Shepherd School of Music and is from Sweden, said university spokesman B.J. Almond.

Lundgren was found lying facedown on the firing line, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. She had rented a weapon at the Pasadena Gun Center and Shooting Range at 206 Shaw, Pasadena Police Department spokesman Vance Mitchell said.

"Apparently she went back to the firing line and was firing this pistol for about 20 minutes when management came over the PA system and said for everyone to leave so they could clear the line," Mitchell said.

Employees discovered Lundgren's body shortly before 7 p.m.

"Right now there are no details as far as exactly what happened," said Almond, adding that the university is also grappling with the disappearance of undergraduate computer science student Matthew Wilson, 20, who has been missing since Dec. 14.
Lundgren was the recipient of a Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation Scholarship in Violin.

Her death remains under investigation.

I posted this in another thread under "Shooting Ranges", I didn't think to look under "CHL discussion" for a thread of this nature. I apologize for not checking more thoroughly. :leaving

Anyway, I thought it sounded a little like an accidental shooting by this Matthew Wilson and he left the scene scared to take responsibility. It may be unrelated. :???:
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

If you re-read the article, Matthew Wilson has been missing since before Christmas, so the two incidents are related only in the sense that they involved Rice University students.

Sad situation alright. I am curious if it was someone not being safe on the firing line. I bet everyone here has seen really unsafe knucleheads pointing their weapon everywhere while in between the range going hot. Coincidentally, I posted this to Thehighroad.org today and was chastised by the moderator because "we don't discuss suicide regardless of the means". I thought it would be useful perhaps to remind everyone what CAN happen. It did make me think suicide initially, but maybe a knucklehead...?

Spooky... I was at Pasadena thursday night. The range was pretty busy then.

Hard to say what happened without more info. Accident or suicide are strong possibilities. Especially as it was a rental.

I hope that I didn't sound callous in my initial post. That was not my intent. Regardless of the cause, Ms. Lundgren's death is a tragedy. From all accounts she was wonderful lady and a very talented musician. R.I.P. - Emma
