Good job on the girl......holster cost part of wedding budget???? WOW, many ppl are green with invy about now.
Heh heh. You don't even know all of it. By chance, the wedding date is 2/23. You can imagine the chuckle I got when I realized how easy my anniversary will be to remember. So then I tell my lady about it, and now she wants to get a LOVE rifle... an AR! The picture on my cell phone is of her firing my brother's AR-15.

Is using an ankle holster to carry a full-size 1911 even possible? Compact XD 45? I think I want my choice to have meaning; going out and buying a more concealable piece just wouldn't be the same. What are some recommendations on an ankle holster? I'm starting to wonder myself about a shoulder rig... with all of the hugging and such going on, people are gonna find out. And the weather in Austin in February is such a wildcard that I just don't know if a shoulder rig will work.

Thanks,
Brent

I think I would try a smart carry or similar. They aren't that expensive($20 or so). Then you can carry your regular carry gun and not worry about a lump on your leg.

Congratulations on the coming wedding and for finding a lady that knows how to judge priorities with the "Love gun". Might I suggest a matching set of AR-15s so you can shoot side by side on coming anniversaries.

Also, I noticed your wedding ring is on your right hand...and that you have a very unique (left hand model) camera there.
Fixed it ;-)

At my son's wedding in December we wore tuxes with red cummerbunds. I had no problem with a Detonics Combat Master (think Kimber ultra or springfield micro) in the cummerbund with no holster. I think it was Will Bill Hickcock who carried his pistols in a red silk sash instead of holsters.
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

Why are you so concerned about carrying on your wedding day? Are you worried that some ex-boyfriends or some of your ex-girlfriends might show up? You better be careful when you are fetching the garter, might have an accidental exposure-of your gun that is.

Nope. Not concerned at all. But because my fiancee finds me with a gun to be hot, even to the point of subconsciously clicking my XD's grip safety, I figured that it would be good to follow through on the big day. What can I say? Gotta carry.

I'm in the same boat as you, but instead it's my sister's wedding. My sister is getting married 2 more weeks from now and I'm planning on carrying too. I just put in my order on this Desantis Tucker This Holster...

Anyone here ever experience this holster? I hope this bad boy is comfortable for a straight 14 hour session that day.

Well, here is my question:

If your fiance wants you to carry, several others are carrying, and you want to carry, I don't understand the problem. I'd buy a belly band for under the cumberbun, and, if the huggers objected, tough. ;-)

Personally, I like the idea of everyone carrying outside, if there will be no alcohol. Wouldn't it be fun to make that part of your announcement that all, who are licensed to carry, may do so in the open at your wedding? It would be a wedding that they'd talk about forever and never forget! Wonder if that would freak out your Pastor? Guess you'd have to run that one past him, first, but it would certainly make a statement.

Maybe, I'm getting a bit cranky in my old age, but I'm really tired of bending over backward to please everybody, who has this little problem or that little suggestion or another getting hurt over any little thing. So, I'd just do whatever makes my wedding special to me and my fiance, and the rest could like it or leave. The wedding is for you ... not them. So, if they hug you and feel a gun, and complain, tell them that is the feel of freedom, upon which this country was founded and blessed, and if they don't like it, go to someone else's wedding! ;-) Well, it's probably not a good idea to say that to them, but it would really feel good, wouldn't it? Oh, well.........

Just remember that this is your wedding, and you have the right to make it special to reflect the likes and interests of you and your fiance, without having to bend over backwards to accommodate folks, who "might" complain. Have fun!

The announcement wouldn't make it legal. Open carry is still illegal in Texas unless you're on property you own or control, are traveling, or are engaged in a sporting activity commonly requiring use of a handgun.
