Planning to order the goldenrod for the safe I just aquired. I have a plug nearby, and hear good things about itAEA wrote:Goldenrod is supposed to be good but it does have to be plugged in.
I just use a box of silicone crystals and a little strip on the box turns pink when I have to put it back in the oven for a couple of hours to dry it out. It goes for about a year at a time between the oven routine. But, my safe is inside a bedroom........
I would suspect that a safe in a unheated/air conditioned garage could go thru some large swings in moisture. If at all possible, run a wire out to the garage (underground is easy) and have a power strip on the end in the garage. Then get the Goldenrod and plug it in. I really think that would be your best bet.

well, I called the Yamaha Guy, because I know him, his bikes are not shipped with large silica packs, but he sells it for keeping boats and RV's dry in the off season. $6+ after tax for a temp solution, and certainly easy.Skiprr wrote:Another creative, no-cost solution: Visit your local Harley-Davidson dealer. The bikes come shipped with some industrial-sized desiccant packs.

CJATE
I have one of the Remington units.
Got it for Christmas. So far it seems to be doing the job, but it is in temp. controlled area.
The price is right and is easy to use.
