at least .32 caliber?
can anyone tell me why a CHL holder must carry a .32 or larger caliber gun? i have a .45acp i plan to carry but i was curious as to why?

The only caliber requirement is for taking your qualification.
Once you have your CHL you may carry a .22 or a .460 S&W, although I wouldn't recommend either.

There was a recent news story of a WW2 veteran who shot an intruder in the forehead with a .22, and the vet's buddies set up a mock court-martial for him, charging him with "not using a sufficient caliber".
But like Mike said, there is no law on what caliber you can carry, only for the shooting test portion of the CHL class.
