Spot the CHL

Post by Hyunchback »

I stopped at a local gas/convenience store to buy chewing gum. My antennae were up a little higher than usual as I'm wearing a different holster than I normally do. I was trying to keep aware of how my shirt rode as I moved so as to not print with the OWB rig.

I'm walking into the store and notice one of the employees bent over messing with a mat laying outside the front door.

My eyes shift to the strong-side hip and noticed the shape. Just a guess but it looked more like an XD than a Glock or a revolver butt.

I know it wasn't his cell phone as that was hung on the opposite hip and the long t-shirt tail was pulled up to expose the phone.

I'm hoping that he's licensed and/or has the blessings of the property owner. I wouldn't want that sort of job if I were prevented from carry.

There is another person in town that isn't exactly subtle in his carry. Since he works at a place that sells firearms I suppose that may be intentional.

How often do you find yourself spotting someone other than a LEO who is carrying?

Our Zip Code had 414 CHL's issued last year, the most of any Zip in the State. I see about one a week, except for this week, as I'm working Early Voting. They're not all that hard to spot.

They are crying for Republicans to work the polls. If you can, do it.

It is not unusual to see folks with two Cell Phones or a Cell Phone and a Pager on each hip. Also, some of the new PDA's or Blackberry's look rather square and bulky and could be mistaken for a concealed weapon. You have to really look at some to be certain.

Blessings!!

The people with CHLs usually aren't the ones I'm keeping an eye on.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

True.

After I had "made" the store employee I focused elsewhere. Like the beat-up pickup with four shades of paint and three shades of primer showing. Three people in the seat, the middle one being female with a black eye.

The things you see when you keep your perception open.

I am a banker and have to ask all new folks for 2 forms of ID.

I love the look on their face as the pull out their drivers license, and the CHL is below it, it’s so easy to spot in a pile of cards…

“ yep, that’ll work too

I would think that would be the one you'd WANT your banker to see.

Unlike a Driver's License it means you have risen above. The standards for a driver's license are intentionally low. The standards for a CHL are intentionally high.

If your banker doesn't like you better for having a CHL then you should get a different banker.
