The Great North TX Gear Swap. Interested?
I was just talking with Reysc on the phone and he came up with this idea. It sounds great to me. How many of you fine folks would like to participate in this?
The scenario is that a group of us would get together at the Dallas Athletic Club in Mesquite one afternoon and bring our "boxes of unwanted gear". I know that I'm not the only member here that has a box of holsters/mags/scopes/gun parts/ammo etc that would like to sell or trade for similar items that better fit current needs. Am I right?
So we drag our shipping containers full of stuff into a private meeting room at the Dallas Athletic club and sift through it all and buy/sell/swap etc.
Should we do this?

Man! I wish I was closer! I'd love to do that! I hope you guys get together. I've got boxes of AR parts, and holsters, and scopes that are just taking up space. That would be cool. If it became a regular thing, maybe I could come up sometime. Sounds like fun.

I don't have much that I don't use, but I'm sure I could find a few things to bring, and I'd certainly be willing to bring cash to help convince you to let me take some of your stuff home with me.

I first thought no way, I'm really attached to all my stuff. Then I started thinking about those things I don't even remember when I used last. I assume additional information will follow regarding what is off limits based on Dallas Athletic Club rules. Let us know what develops. I look forward to the chance to meet some of the other forum members as well as picking up some new gear. Might even take the opportunity to unload some of my treasures.

I'd be in. Since I'm trying to build my collection I'll just be a shopper. Lots of things I need so will be there with bells on.
FWIW another club I am a part of does swaps a couple times a year. I have no idea about the rules at the suggested venue... but I know a lot of places that have meeting rooms for use won't allow money to change hands at events. It's been a problem we've had trying to get good meeting places for our swaps. Just make sure you are clear with them so there aren't any misconceptions.

Do you have an address for the Dallas Athletic Club in Mesquite? I am unfamiliar with Mesquite.
