Here's an interesting question for you guys lol

Post by kurt_cobain »

Hi, I recently bought a very small 22 rifle small enough to fit into a backpack if I were to go hiking. I started wondering, wouldn't my CHL cover me in that case? I mean, it is a concealed gun right?

I don't think you would have much of a problem anyway, but the license does say HANDGUN on it.

Another thing I was wondering about is, is there a limit to the # of guns you can be carrying? If I were backpacking with this rifle, I would of course also have my normal everyday carry on me (glock 40). Thanks

The number of guns is not limited.

ever seen the movie Matrix. Yeah you can get all geared up like Neo during the rescue shoot out scene. But only with handguns. No rifles! Just dont let anyone see them and you are good to go.

If you are referring to the henry AR-7 I never thought about the concealment issue ,but since the weapon is broken down and stored in it's own carying case "stock" I think it would be like having a firearm in a case broken down and transporting it in a carrier.IANAL but theres been times mine has been laying in the back of my jeep and if you don't know what it is it just looks like a gun stock.
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

Hey Kurt, stay away from the Shotguns, Courtney don't deserve all them royalties.

now, if you had one of them AR15 Pistols, you'd be good to go!
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

I was under the impression that open carrying of long arms is not generally prohibited unless its "in a manner calculated to alarm" (PC §42.01).

Just be careful where you hike..you don't want to accidentally get on a game preserve or whatever and have a game warden catch you with a firearm

Are you saying that if I go hiking somewhere there are places I can't carry my handgun for my own protection??

Okay, back to basics:

- This is a long gun, no matter how compact it is. There is no restriction on carrying long guns openly, concealed, loaded, unloaded, or otherwise, except in those places where all firearms are prohibited.

- CHL doesn't apply because it isn't needed.

- A CHL holder with a concealed handgun can have certain freedoms that someone with a long doesn't, such as carrying wildlife management areas, etc.
