For you military guys/gals.

When mailing off you packet make sure you include a copy of your orders or a copy of your LES statement. When I took my class I was told to just include a copy of my military ID. They just kicked back my application with a letter saying I needed a copy of either of those 2 or a few other options, orders and LES being the easiest to get. :banghead: O well, guess I can wait a couple more months.

How about for veterans; will the form DD-214 work?

I was stationed at Ft. Bragg from 1986 - 1988, by the way. Thanks for your service! :thumbs2:

A copy of your DD214, or a copy of your last Honorable Discharge. I also sent in a copy of my Retired ID card along with mine. :rules:

I sent in only a copy of my DD-214 as proof of honorable discharge. The State didn't have a problem with that. My prints, on the other hand... :)

Sent in my DD214 and recieved license much quicker than the wait times you guys are talking about. Not sure if they give preferential treatment to veterans, but it kind of seemed like it.

:iagree: It does seem shorter for Vet's. Some guys are still waiting for pin numbers 2 and 3 months after they turned there paperwork in. It took 28 day for mine to go into Processing Application, after I dropped it off. I dont have my Lic yet. So I guess Ill see if it is shorter for Vet's. Or will I be waiting for 2 or 3 months. :thumbs2:

I was stationed at Bragg from 1995-1999. I hated it so much that the best time I had there was when the 503rd Maint. Co. (fwd) deployed to Opetation Joint Guard for a year.

Rather than mail them, scan the documents they asked for and email them to Simone at CHL@txdps.state.tx.us
I did this when they requested some additional paperwork and it definitely sped up the turn around time. I emailed the documents and had the plastic 9 days later.

Did you put any other information about your application in the email?
