no and hopefully not ever. although just yesterday in broad daylight at a gas station in Eastland TX i was approached by to angry youths who were spouting off that i had "almost just (cussword cussword) run us over-dawg!. I stated that i had not and that they needed to watch where they were walking. (they basically dared me to hit them as i was pulling into the gas station i.e. didnt check for vehicles and then when they realized i was waiting on them to shuffle their feet out of my way they walked even slower) they kept approaching me with wild arm gestures and expletives so i told them "you dont want what i got, so beat it" they stopped at this and changed direction...still cussing of course.

I was adrenaline nauseated for a least a hour....

what gets into people?

be safe out there friends.

the reason they act that way is because the majority of people that they do it too just sit there and take it. Whether they are scared, intimitated, etc.

until one day they do it to the wrong person.

If i had EVER acted that way i believe my father would have tanned my hide. I was always told "pedestrians have the right of way, but you better watch your six"

People act like they are the only folks in the world and they can just do what they want. Makes me crazy.

The reason you did not act that way is because your Dad did tan your hide way, Way, WAY before you ever thought about doing such as that.

Not as a CHL, but when I go to my farm up in OK, I carry my Kimber in a Glaco Crossdraw holster (usually have some sort of rifle on a sling on my dominant side). I was pulling up to our south gate and noticed that someone was standing in my pasture. His truck was near the gate he had just KNOCKED DOWN. He literally broke the 6"x6" posts off at the ground with his grill guard and then drove over the gate. I yelled at him to come over and chat a little. Keep in mind I was only 19 or 20 then and he probably didn't take me very seriously. He came over with this I'm a grown up attitude and I calmly told him that he was to put the gate up in its original form before he left (he said he was surveying). He told me to move along and forget the good samaritan act and that he had a job to do and it was his right to do whatever he wanted. I then promptly got out of my truck and told him that he was on my property and that if he didn't fix the gate immediately and leave, I was going to call the police and hold him for tresspassing. I was amazed at how quickly he complied and what a nice job he did rediging those holes with just his hands in Oklahoma's famous red rock dirt (in our area you get down to solid rock within 15"). I thought it was because I stand about 6'2" with boots on and had been working out alot, but I later remembered I had a visible .30-30 in the truck (unloaded, legal) and a cocked and locked 1911 on my hip (legal on your own property).

I wouldn't have minded letting him in the gate (he was surveying an adjacent piece of property for a guy who is now my friend and grazing rights leasee) but his demeanor was less than honorable, especially after I had made every attempt at civilized discussion.

I have drawn several times, way before I had a CHL. Once with my CHL.

Long stories.

Once at an ATM when approached by two men.

Once with wife and 4 kids in the car stuck in traffic.

Once confronting three men trying to steal half a house of furniture from me.

Never fired.

One of the guys trying to steal the furniture did wet himself when he heard the 1911 safety click off with it stuck in his ear.

That got me chuckling. A thing like that does tend to impress people.

I remember when I was young out in west Texas, a friend was in the neighboring town (big rivals) standing beside his car with the window open. A couple of guys decided to scare him by jacking him up against his car and threatening to beat him up. They didn't know that he had a loaded pistol on his dash - he reached in and put it under the guy's nose. That got their attention real quick.

Yes, but it was back before CHL. A group that was acting like six of them attacking two of us seemed pretty good odds decided they should make other plans once they figured out what I was pointing at them.

A couple of times when I was unarmed I used body language to make it seem like I was carrying and that was sufficient to dissuade the aggressors from further challenge to my personal safety and well being.

I was getting gas along I-35. Two men approached me. As they were getting closer I removed the gas nozzle and stepped back and placed it back into my trucks fill tube. I now had a little barrier between them and myself. They started asking ramdom questions, where to eat? Well the restaurant next door is good. Where to stay? The place across the street seemed nice. Did I live around here? Probably. Where was a good place to get a paper? Well since were at a service station, they have them inside. Did I like my truck? Most certainly. They began to fidget. So I took off my glasses and casually grabbed the corner of my T-shirt to clean them, exposing the butt of my XD .45 ACP. I guess they decided, where to: eat, sleep, get something to read, and they made a hasty retreat. That's the only time anyone has ever approached me and pressed my personal space when I've gotten gas.

Under different circumstances I don't think I would have shown my weapon, if they really wanted the truck, they could have it. They just couldn't have it with my sleeping 18 month old son in it.

I never had to draw mine, but I did come close once.

Before I obtained my CHL, I was working security at a night club in Houston several years back. The manager allowed us to carry on the premises (looking back, I'm not even sure it was legal, but...). Well, this guy had started a fight inside, so I escorted him out. He was in the lead, I had one of my guys behind me and the guy at the exit door opened it up to make sure everything was okay as we left through the main entrance. This guy was clearly agitated and I could tell by his body language that he was debating whether to start something. Instead, he turned around and as he did so, he flourished his hands in a way that exposed the back of his untucked button-up shirt and I could clearly see what looked like a black handgun. As he did this motion, my gun was already half out of the holster. If he had turned around, I would have fired. Fortunately for us all, he did not but kept on walking. I checked with the other two and they said they could see it as well and they had made the same motion themselves.

I contacted the police and they picked him up about 4-5 minutes later and he was taken downtown. I asked the officer if he was carrying a weapon. He was.

What they say those split seconds stretching on are quite true. Although this never involved a shooting, it is one of those experiences you can't forget and you are amazed at how much detail you could get out of the scene.

I left the nightclub industry a few months later and forced myself into the white collared world. I haven't had anything like that happen since.

Have had my CHL about 3 years and had went to Sanantino for the weekend and was in motel asleep!! About 2 in th morning a noise about half woke me thene agin when the door breaks open! I raised up in the bed grabbing my XD 40 that was on night stand and pointed at the guy standing in the door and shouted stop and he did an ran!! No shots fired!! The guy ran out by the pool and stopped for a minute than whent on!! Called the front desk and they already new and was saying they were so sorry about what happen ! They had sent him to wrong room to clean at 2 am. He used key card and tried to open door , then tried agin and broke chain that was on my side of door!!! Scarred the heck out of us and I almost shot somebody !!! I told theme that it could have went real bad!! They didn't seam to care very much!!! So glad it worked out like it did and nobody got hurt!!!! Still doesn't make since of theme being out at that time doing what they claim he was trying to do!!!

No, but in Panguitch, UT last summer I was confronted in a fuel aisle by some Hollywood type dude some 30 years my junior who was trying to impress his companion with his bravado after I had honked for him to quit grandstandin' for the ladies and blocking the aisle. He moved, parked his truck and came back at me. I saw him comin' and said, "Uh Oh". I put my right hand on my 1911 and the diesel hose nozzle in his face with my left. He left mutterin' something about something.
